Lancer GTS exhaust/tune up reviews

Hi, so I'm new to the forum, but I bought my 2011 Lancer GTS last December, CVT transmission..(I regret not getting manual..), but I'm trying to make light of the situation I have. I'm very into MPG increases along with performance increase.

So what I have is the 2.4 4b12, everything stock

I've been looking at many cat & axleback exhausts but I can never find a true review of someone who actually bought an exhaust and noticed a difference in gas mileage and performance.

If anyone can give me any reviews or knowledge of what they know about either the Greddy SE, Magnaflow or whichever brand for exhausts otherwise whichever bolt ons tune ups that actually do increase fuel economy and performance on their cars, it would definitely aid me into getting ahead and I'd very much appreciate it.

Make your own exhuast setup. That's what i've always done. The only thing you're paying for with these pre-made setups is the mandrel bends. Just buy your own muffler and have a shop bend/weld that sucker up. I've done full exhaust out the door for less than $300. That includes muffler, cat, resonator, tubing, welds and labor. Goodluck finding a cat back for that much.

Also, you wont really notice any gains at all...performance or MPG wise. I only noticed MPG gains when I turbocharged my 03 cavalier. Got almost 50+ miles more per tank. That is mainly due to being able to control the fueling.

Exhaust= minimal gains and sound.

For exhaust that give you gains the closer to the engine the more gains, you really won't see much with a cat back or axle back just different sound. I have a axle back and no gains or added mpg it's just a vibrant muffler.

I recently put a magnaflow catback system on my 2009 cvt es model along with an injen cold air intake and i have to say i love how it sounds. It sounds nice and deep and real throaty when you step on it. sounds similar to a wrx or evo i think. having the cvt its a bit weird hearing no shifts but it still sounds great none the less. definately stepped up the performance of the vehicle, its still no race car but it absolutely gave me the small boost i was looking for.

As far as fuel consumption goes id say it helped a bit..but honestly i cant say how much. I with it sounding great ive found myself revving it up a bit more and doing a bit more racing around town..but it hasnt been costing me more in gas and ive been doing a bit more driving so it mustve helped a bit. out of per per
bit.ge id say the mileage

thanks for all the comments, I really appreciated it. Im looking for a new intake and catback but I was wondering does any of this have a chance to void your current warrenty?

I went in to the dealership right before i installed intake and exhaust and asked a technician directly that very question. his exact words were unless the part in question directly caused the issue warranty shouldnt be an issue. take that how you will i suppose. ive had my parts on for 3 weeks now and so far its been all good things.

I have the 2011 GTS with the greddy ti-c custom catback and it sounds great and pulls harder in the higher RPMS , after 4000... Gas mileage really doesn't change.

How would the magna-flow Cat-Back exhaust work? I hear mixed info form shops and magna-flow themselves, Like it will and won't. So I just don't know what brand to go with any... I had more luck with a suspension system then a damn exhaust! I have a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS Sportback 2.4L Mivec. Now MagnaFlow has a setup for the 2010 Gts 2.4 and I heard 3 different stories for them, It will work and i'm not sure and talk with a shop... Now minus The bumper It's all the same right? Or do they employ people like forest Gump that "say life's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"

Greddy is a good brand, But I'm not sure if they make it for the Se. I prefer a cat-back over a axle-back.
