coilovers or lowered spring
In my opinion I would not buy springs. The OE shocks have proven time and time again that they degrade a lot faster than one would like once you install springs. The handling does not improve and the ride is ok. Further more your stuck at the ride height the whole year.
A good set of coilovers that are properly maintained can last you 2 to 3 years, possibly more before any serious service to them is required. Of course there are some that that may not last you even 9 months. Gotta do you research and get first hand feedback. Since your in the south, you will benefit from less harsh conditions / extremes.
Handling can be enhanced greatly, and the ride will be firm but if the dampers are valved and set right, it can be very enjoyable

200 springs vs. 1000- 1600 in coilovers. When you factor in the springs, then labour to install, then the labour to uninstall and take a shot a warranty when you shocks start to go, etc... etc... just is not worth it in my opinion. Spend a decent amount of money. Transform the handling of your car and start enjoying it again

my 2 cents
i was recommended to the coilovers by a friend as well. Not sure whether or not i want to invest as it is my daily driver but i do want to make it a little nicer to drive. Thanks for your help as you have given me a greater understanding on what they each will provide.
