reflashing 05 M/T ECU to evo rom

what all is involved in reflashing my ROM to an evo one?

I dont have my wideband up and running yet. is it necessary to wait for that?

I'm still N/a, and will be for a while. I have a wideband, i just realized too late that I can't log from the prosport model that i have. So now I either have to trade it or just buy an AEM uego.

Either way, I'd like to reflash my ecu and start learning how to play with all that ASAP.

I've been reading merlin's tuning guide little by little.

This was probably a dumb question that's been asked a million times. My bad. I'll do some more research and come back with something more specific.

Seriously considering just doing remote tuning.

Why would you want to flash an evo rom into a n/a lancer? just keep your rom and read it with ecuflash with the right definition and then u can modify a couple things like that....the evo rom is for the turbo lancers....the afr and timing in the evo rom is going to be far from what you are looking for in a n/a car...

So Ive spent the last 5 hours trying to reinstall windows xp, get it activated, get Internet, service pack 3, .net framework, EcuFlash, and evoscan on my 15 year old POS compaq presario 2100.

Unreal. I'm about to go "Office Space" on this laptop

I've tried like 4 Or 5 different service pack dls and 4 or 5 more .net framework downloads and I still can't get evoscan to install.

I hate computers.

Stock airbox going back on.

Put stock MAF+air filter back on with one alteration: i took the restricter plate off the MAF.

Car still running like ****.

Argh.

I might go try to get EcuFlash working and just put in some different variables without the added benefit of having evoscan.

Still haven't havent managed to get evoscan to install on the old laptop. :-(

If you're planning on going turbo all you need is an evo 9 tephra rom and it will work...all you have to change is the injector scalings, latencys, afr maps, ignition maps and knock control for it to run well without blowing your engine. Do not run a stock evo 9 rom into your lancers the timings are way higher because of the different compression ratios/ intake advance devices, etc An evo 8 rom wont work in your 05 as far as i know because the rom size is smaller in older models (250kb vs 550kb) if you need help you can pm me...alot of people have helped me here i would be glad to give help back!

Thanks Marcouxa :-)

I managed to get my laptop setup to work finally.... But I still need to either get a battery, find my old battery (not bloody likely), or buy a cigarette-lighter-powered cable for it.

Tomorrow night I'm hoping to adjust some things, MAF tables for a start then Im not sure after that.

I'm still n/a for a while yet, but I'd really like to get the general idea of how to tune before I go trying to bolt up a turbo

And unfortunately until I either trade my prosport premium series wide band for an AEM or something else with logging capabilities, I'm SOL as far as the wideband goes.

I don't know if you've seen these but this is very helpful. It has 6 parts. Have fun!

Edit: Also for your laptop you could look at getting an ac/DC adapter. You can buy it at any retail store really. Turns ac to DC current by plugging in your cigarette lighter.

Epic. Thanks Bandit! I'm on the fourth one so far (listening at work lol)

Btw, it's excruciatingly frustrating that because we have lancers, everything is twice as complicated, then twice again for an 05, and twice again for a manual. Not to mention more expensive (custom parts.)

:-(
