Lancer GTS Reflash

Hi, I have a Lancer GTS 2.4 and I Reflash it Yesterday... It went from 140 HP,168HP and 174HP with the reflash. When it went 174HP i take the OEM filter Off and let the box open. My question is if I reflash my car and I want to put an Intake from Injen or a home intake does the Service Engine light turns on? or because of the reflash it dosent turn on?

You won't get a check engine light from an intake. And Injen intakes are designed to be the same width as your stock MAF housing, so it doesn't require a tune.

It depends on what you mean by a home-made intake.

If you mean that you cut the filter out of the box and threw a filter on the other end where the funnel is, then that would work (I did it to my buddy's ES, worked 100% fine)

What really matters most with an intake is the size of the tubing around the MAF sensor. If it's bigger/smaller than the stock size, it requires a tune. Otherwise, your engine's idle will fluctuate violently and you could break your car.

Newby here browsing and came across this haha. I can confirm ichigo0souls post. I tried a universal from specter on my 08 gts and went to limp modes after several changes and then forked out the cash found a used injen cai (not the short ram) turned the key, no light thrown, drove away with a couple extra ponies and a great sounding car. Definitely would recommend waiting until you can afford the spare cash for an injen, takita, k&n, etc... Remember craigslist is a mans best friend at least in my case found my cai with a greddy axle back exhaust for 120

I think its a very bad idea, since now you are sucking in all that hot air from transfer case, exhaust and the engine block.

Here's the thing about that though:
The SRI made by Injen puts the filter in damn near the same place, and with no heat shield. I had it on my car, and it definitely increased performance. He should have no problems with it as long as the housing for the MAF sensor isn't any different than the OEM one.

Yeah I have the injen sri and I could tell there was a difference in performance even though I had no head shield and it was in the same spot as in the pictures above. I've had it for over 50,000 miles and the car still runs greAt with no problems

hi , as i understand, hotter air will have less oxygen rather than colder air. theoretically. but practically as u have experienced is different...i wonder if the difference is so small that we did not notice...most of my friends that had similar intake setting did not complain as well..
