What's the price gonna be? Is it supposed to be a cold air intake or just a regular filter on a stick? If the price is reasonable then I say go for it.

There's also the RMR intake:

It's gonna be a Race Division (RD) intake. That's what Injen calls their cold air line. The email also said, they will also try making a standard shorty type. As far as price, I'd guess around 250-300. Seems about the standard rate for cold air systems.

Surprised...

I'm pretty surprised that this topic didn't get as many replies/views as I would've thought it would have. Just to get a point across: All of US Lancer owners, whether they be OZ, LS, or ES need to make phone calls, emails, smoke signals, whatever, out there to the aftermarket and let our voices be heard. An email response from Injen stated "without demand, there will be no supply" as per me asking about some accesory (can't remember if it was an oil cap or spark plug cover). We get all this isht (guess what that spells) for pretending to be Evo's but that isn't true. I agree with what I've seen on these boards about how our Lancers are not what's out there and that's great. It takes a unique breed to appreciate what you have in spite of adversity. So call AEM. Heckle K&N. Email Koni. Get your wants, our wants out there and we'll have more damn parts than even the Civic/Integra crowd would know what to do with...

Wow...that was quite the speech...

ARGH!

Injen says there is no "official release date" for the Race Division intake but they say it's still due out in 2002...hey at least it's something right? Me sad now...but that's ok. Here's the tech guy's email: phillip@injen.com so everyone email and get them to hurry up but be nice about it! Hehehe. Maybe I'll buy my MSD SCI.

As far as RRE goes, plans for a turbo kit are slim. For my car we may try some all motor stuff in order to make some power(20-30hp more). Don't bug RRE, I'll tell when my stuff is done. Then I can tell you when they should have production stuff. I was there today checking on progress.

Hmm, hottest $14k-19k--did you forget about the Civic?!?!

I haven't seen an OZ on the road yet. Nor would I waste my money on one. That's a grocery getter. Don't waste your time modding it, save your money for a real car.

No offense to anyone, but it's an entry level economy car, not a sports car. WTF?

Lightbulb Here's an idea

Why would you want to buy a car that everyone and they're brother has...aka Civic? Be original...buy a Lancer. Grocery Getter? I don't think so. But if you wanted to be like all the other cattle and conform to what everyone else is doing be my guest. I've only seen one Lancer on the road since I bought mine more than two months ago. I can tell you that I've seen about a million civics, not that they're a bad car or anything....but everyone has one. "Hey that's cool, I've got one just like it!" "Yeah, me too!" Do you hear that very much?

Preach on brother..

You are so right... The lancer OZ is a great car for the money. If it had AWD or 25-40 hp more it would be almost perfect. With less modding than (most) Hondas it can get better far better.

I didn't recommend a Civic. I don't even like them. But you can't deny the ARE the market right now, for better or for worse.

Sorry bro, the Lancer is a Mirage which is an economy car AKA grocery getter. The Evo is a whole different story.

Um, if the Lancer is the hottest car in the 14-19k market, its only because the new Civic Si and the SVT Focus aren't officially out yet, you're ignoring the Sentra SE-R Spec V and you don't want the normal Civic because so many people already have them.

I do own a Civic Si, simply because it was the best sports car available at the time for ~16k and beyond. I've only seen 6 or 7 cars like mine in almost two years of owning it. This is with a trained, honda-owning eye though, so most people would probably associate lesser models with mine. I'm also considering color, which is probably not an issue in your desire to own something different.

I'm not saying the Civic is the best car ever, but it's popular for a few reasons. One is price/performance, of which Honda has simply been the best up to this point. The fact that so many good sports cars under 20k are coming from Nissan, Chrysler, Ford, Honda and others is awesome. Honda will finally have competition, and consumers will be better off for it. 20k-30k sports cars will flourish in the next few years too, which is probably the sweet spot for price/performance.

OK, there's a half-hour down the drain... What was my point?
