Honeycomb filter

My friend was trying to install the intake on his lancer the other day, and ended up having the same problem we've all had well he ended up totally destroying his honeycomb. My question is has anyone in the forums purchased just the honeycomb for the mas if so how much did it cost. He doesn't have much money to spend so we're trying to find out. Thanks for any info

*points at where the thread is located* Your friend drives an Evo, eh?

He will have to buy a whole new MAS most likely. They're not cheap. Unless you have the fortune of finding a rear ended Lancer in the junkyard it'll cost you a pretty penny. Until then expect rough idles, possible stalling and a CEL.

Thats a negative HobieKopek.........you know mine was stalling....that was cause the ECU didnt recongize it......but I have no screen....and still do not have a screen.....reset your ECU, let the car idle normally, and just leave it out until you can find a replacement.

Honeycombs straigthen out the airflow so the mas more accurately measures it. It is important. If you lie to ECU with an AFC or something else it may be OK.

Like Rob said, the honeycomb is there for a reason. If your car isn't having issues yet, it may begin to in the near future. Without a new MAS, filter or air/fuel management, you're likely to run into problems.

It has nothign to do with brand. Either you didn't reset it or there is another problem (loose seal, vacuum hose etc.). As for the MAS, you can swap but it's not easy and you'll want some good mods before hand. It's been mentioned before, use the happy blank box at the top to find out more.

this gives me an idea, Hey, Rock do you guys have plans to produce maybe a "hot wire" style MAP sensor to replace the MAS? it might be te answer to everyones problem depending on cost, and if not, it would still help out with tuning, especially with turboin when the boost starts to go up when your low compression pistons come out. do you think you could get the ecu to work with it or would it take stand alone engine managment? well anyway what are everyone's thoughts on this?
