Smile Factory mistu ground wire kit

This is for anyone who is interested in getting a decent ground wire kit for the Lancer OZ or Ralli Art. I found this through Derek and Chelsea at York Mitsubishi PA. ( Thanks guys - you're awesome !! ) The kit is pretty straight forward with instructions and hardware included.

MZ312863 - red
MZ312864 - blue

I ordered mine thru the dealership for $149 ( $15 bucks less for me cuz i got a 10% off parts n service card )

I got the wires spread out and installed in about 30 minutes. unfortunately i took about an hour cuz i dropped a bolt ( yellow square ) and had to remove the wheel well to get to the washer reservoir where it fell behind. ( i wasn't looking forward to that cuz i remember how much fun i had installing the carbon fiber reflectors ) Anyways, i think this is a decent mod. A little pricey but the accelleration feels quicker and the headlights do seem brighter. I think that it is a good quality kit and if you don't feel like searching around other parts retailers - give this kit a thought.

wow..... um...... a quick search would have brought up several threads from last year about DIY groudning kits. Mine cost me $30 in parts and about an hour to put together and install.

Care to post the wire locations instructions? Someone was looking for them earlier this week.

Yikes thats too much money for grounding wires. You could at least got the HKS earth wires for that price, but thats still too much. Can you even return it for a refund?

$149 is WAY over price for 8ft of Monster Cable. I spent $30 for diy grounding wires and IMHO was a waste of $$$ and time. I really didnt feel any difference in performance. Next time I find time to tinker under the hood I will be removing the wires.

That's what I had done . . . I replaced the battery terminal grounding to the engine block. It only cost me under 12 bucks.

Benefits = faster power windows and slightly better idle under load from headlights, AC, and a few other stuff.

I just don't know how import tuner can get 6 WHP about 15 WTQ on a 92 DSM (Aug 03 - pages 104-106) from this grounding kit mod. This is the same mag usually dynoing intake making an AVERAGE of 4-6 WHP gains while SCC gets about 2 WHP!

I don't know that I noticed any power gains per se, 1-2 HP is hardly noticeable anyway. I did get the same electrical-related benefits you mentioned, plus my stereo reception got better (I also have a shorty antenna, they don't seem to get as good reception).
As far as the magazine tests.... well, it IS import tuner

I made a topic about these too. Mitsubishiparts.net sells what you bought for $114. I was thinking about getting them in blue with RRM's blue silicone hose kit. Although eBay also has ground cables for $10... and an inflated $20 S&H charge. Still way cheaper than buying Mitsubishi's cables.

Nice to know, thanks for the info. Looks like it's designed for the Lancer and Lancer Ralliart models and not the Evo.

Nice to hear about a factory part.

Please post the directions, if you don't mind.
