RRM Piggyback & cold weather

I Installed my piggyback in april of this year and it hadnt been cold since then until about a month ago. Since it has been getting cold i have had a problem with a CEL. When the engine is warm and the air temp is cold (less then 45 deg) the idle will drop to roughly 500 rpm and it will throw a code, RICH. Now i am assuming that it is the piggyback because that is the only engine mod i did since this time last year and i did not have this problem last year. If somebody has had this problem and it wasnt the piggyback let me know.

Try resetting the ECU (unplug the battery for a few minutes). Then fire the engine up and let it idle. It may relearn around the problem.

This could just be because your car is used to warm air.

This s the second winter that I have had my RRM Piggyback and I haven't had any problems. Like others suggested, try resetting it. If that doesn't work, you might want to check something else.

Thanx. Ill try resetting the ECU. i had a hell of a time getting this dang thing installed right so ill check my installation again too. Maybe it got kicked loose. I thought the ECU would have figured out the cold weather situation by now tho. The damn thing is running like crap again too. ill reset the damn thing and get back to you.

And since it's 15 degrees, I am once again reminded why I probably won't get a PB. *sniff*

Good luck with yours!

Reset ECU. car took forever to learn to operate in cold weather. Idle at startup was near 3K! Gave it two days and everything seems back to normal now. Havent had a CEL yet. ill give it another week yet.

I worked with Rock for months when the piggy first came out because it was cold as hell here. I got totally frustrated (after 3 months) with the turnover rates of sending and getting it back from them that I gave up. Since then I have gone turbo and I'm having problems with codes with it in cold weather as well. I haven't checked the code I'm getting right now. An O2 simulator might be in my future.

These cars are really sensitive to temperature variances across systems. For example: when I wrapped my header it kept the heat too well and the hot air was being sucked into the inake. The ECU thought the air was too hot, compared to the coolant temp, so it gave me a fairly crippling CEL (no eManage, really rich, etc.)
Anybody got a code reader? even if it doesn't tell you why you're getting the code, post the code itself and we'll see if we can't figure it out
