We have about 4 dozen threads on this same topic all with the same answers: the 4g63 WAS NOT BUILT FOR THE US LANCER. The swap would be a royal pain in the ***. The cost vs benefit is ridiculous. You do no drive an H&A car. Mitsubishi does not make their engines to be swappable like H&A do.
Regurtiting again: the 4g93, 4g93E or 4g93T are the only engines that would be direct replacements, and even they would probably require a bit of work. The 4g93 would be an utter waste to do because you'd essentually just lost .2 liters. the E is DOHC but also 1.8l so a head, belt ECU swap is more feasible yet a royal PITA to source parts for and the same goes for the 4g93t. The 4g93E and T are not sold in the US and abroad most of the engines are mounted facing the opposite direction. Good luck finding one.
IMO you're wasting your time and money unless you can source an inexpensive 4g93T with the proper orientation.
