Sticky Pedal????

I have noticed lately that after my car has been sitting for a few hours the first push on the gas is kinda sticky. I went under the hood and checked the throttle body and it looks fine. put some lube on the springs and not really any change.

Thanks

Bumping a two year old thread cuz I got the same problem and I don't wanna start a new one.

I bought a bored throttle body from RRM and noticed it sticks at cold start up. RRM said it was normal because they have a protective coating on the inside. Once it melts away the car should be fine.

Well, its been six months and it hasn't gone away. Ideas anyone?

Also, I read or heard somewhere that aftermarket tb's are always like that since the flaps on the inside are not perfect. Could that be it?

I'm just concerned that this is an indicator that not all is well with the install. I hope not....

Have you checked you throttle cable? Most people forget that it needs lubed every one and a while.

Yeah, only at a cold start. Its still there afterwards but not nearly as bad. Ok I'll try lubing the cable. Any particular types or brands?

If you haven't done any type of modification to your throttle body then this problem is mot likely due to the buildup of crap by the butterfly. Go get some intake throttle body cleaner or some seafoam and clean that shet out. If using carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner take your tb out before spraying it. If using the seafoam go run a search and go at it. good luck!

I have the same problem, had the new TB from RRM for about 2 months now and still have problems sticking on cold start or on any major directional change (if I am driving, stop and go into reverse it does it) other than that it is fine all the rest of the time. I am going to look for rubbing on the inside of my TB and see if I can see where it may need a tad bit of sanding or something but I am not sure what to do as it doesn't stick all the time. very interesting problem.... any input from RRM?

Nah, not yet. I was hoping to find the answer here first before contacting them.

This is the most likely problem, my 05 did the same thing after 35,000 miles, clean it up and you should be fine

some timeyou really had to kick the gas pedal when cold to get it to work normally untill cold again.......

Yeah, I know. That's what I've been doing for the last six months. No problem to me really. Just really annoying. I was just double checking with everyone here to see if it is in fact a problem of some kind, and in any case, a fix for it. If there is no REAL problem other than embarrassment from forgetting to break the stick before heading on my way, then I'm done here. It doesn't bother me all that much.

Use the Amsoil MP. Dont get the heavy duty version it has some wax to retain the lube and that gets a little sticky.

There is a way to adjust the closed position of the throttle plate but adjusting it is very difficult and may cause even more problems if done incorrectly...

I also have the RRM TB and there is the glue that is inside of it to make a perfect seal. My theory is that when the car warms up the glue becomes slightly melted and when you turn your car off it sticks just a bit to the butterfly. I found it pretty annoying but I did the TB coolant bypass which keeps the TB a LOT cooler and ever since I did that it sticks a lot less.
