oh my god..... dude, what's the title of this thread? And what are we all talking about?

Yes, it's about NA lancers. No one said anything about turbo's being bad- you can take your blood pressure meds now, ok. But this thread is about being faster than a stage 1 turbo (actually, now let's say stage 1 non-IC since RRM downgraded the turbo to a T25 ) So, we're going to say things that may scare turbo guys.... things like "I'm faster than you" or "I've never blown MY engine" And before anyone decides that they feel the need to start defending the reliability of ANYONE's turbo kit, don't. I don't car how many millions of miles so-and-so's kit can go without problems. That's not the point of this thread. You don't see us NA guys screaming all over the FI threads about how NA is this or NA is that.... I don't think anyone here has any delusions that the fastest NA lancer is probably going to be slower than the fastest FI lancer (by the time it comes out) and that we'll have spent about the same amount of money, or more. What we're here doing is attempting to take a bite out of the FI community's strangle hold on quick times.....

lol i wasnt being defensive, i was interested in what you had to say. lol it takes a whole lot more to offend or upset me. dont worry there will be no claims of reliability of certain turbo kits, from me least of all. id love to see one of you guys in the 14s bc that would beat a lot of the turbo lancers.

I have a topic inside of this NA topic and that involves tuning.

Since I have heard that the Mitsus are tuned rather tamely, how much power would we be able to extract just by having the car custom tuned. An approximate guess will suffice. I am sure this is going to be the finishing touch on the NA build but I wonder how much of a factor it will play in the builds.

Yes hp figures will vary depending on mods.

define custom tune...... the RRM piggy can be considered a custom tune... what are they seeing? 10-15 HP? That sounds about right for basic bolt-ons. you might be able to get a little more if you're willing to go to 92 octane and advance the timing some more (cam gear or ECU controller)..... but that's hard to say.

if you had a pretty stock car and you did fuel and timing tuning, you'd run better than the rrm piggy. that's maybe about 8-10 whp peak, but a whole lot of midrange torque(compared to stock). there are gains to be had from advancing the timing, especially in the midrange.

I pretty much mean like an emanage with a custom shop tune. Or if someone was able to reflash our Ecu's and tune them on the dyno how much would we be able to see. I read alot of the EVO forums and they on a stock EVO can see between20-30 hp increases. Granted this is with boost involved and the greatest gains are shown on cars that some how come from the Factory weak.

I think there is power tinkering in the mid and upper rpm. Mitsu tends to flood the mid range w/ gas and tapers off til the end, partially due to stock airbox.

What's funny?

Sirlancelot doesn't have his car anymore but with proper tuning I think Alchemist is probably the closest NA lancer to be able to achieve this. Give it time I know this is eventually going to happen.

The cost of the NA set up will definately be above the stage one Turbo kit though.
