SC or N/A help me out

Ok, I am very undecided, to the point where its driving me crazy. Help me out

I can either get:

Stage 1 or 1.5 cam
Racing seats
Tien basic coilovers
a wide band o2 (plx or LM1)
front and rear struts
motor mounts
injectors
and fuel pump

OR....for the same price

Supercharger
and wide band o2

I'm just not sure if its worth the S/c'er in the end when I could either crash it or want more horsepower from a car that cant handle much more. I figured if I went with the n/a route I can carry a couple of the parts over to the next car and sell the rest. I also have a emanage which I can carry over to the next car. I have 50,000 miles on my car and wonder if its even worth supercharging it. The body only lasts for so long until it rusts and rots and I'll have spent at least $10,000 on mods to only get into the 300+hp range. What to do.....??? Also if I do get the S/c'er my handling would suck.

depends on what your goals are....N/A would be taking the conservative route, but it will keep your motor running a lot longer if you even are thinking about keeping it for that long.

I am a little biased to this but I prefer your NA list simply because it addresses more NEEDS the car will have as you increase speed/ power. You have everything there that should make the car much more enjoyable to drive and be quick for an NA application.

The Supercharger will probably give you awesome acceleration but the handling of the car will be much poorer compared to the NA build.

My opinion only.

Can't afford the FI bang to the wallet.

I don't have much at this time.
SR intake
Headers
Custom catback Exhaust
Lowering springs
Short shifter.

With these alone the car is completely different. WHen I say your NA build will be better, I am referring to the suspension supporting mods. I can't imagine my car having stock suspension with the increased power it has now. It used to have massive wheel hop and just the springs alone significantly reduced that. It also helped with the body roll.

The guy to ask about suspension though is Urbanknight.

No...I guess I should have clarified that. I'm in this car for the long haul so in order to have some fun with it and still keep the wear and tear on the engine to a minimum I chose to stay NA. The cost of FI was factor in that decision.

Plus how fast is fast enough? I equate modifying the car to my old stereo days. You get in new bigger components and the music would be mind blowing, but after a while you get used to it and you need more. I won't fall into that money pit trap again.

I ditched the stereo and handling and performance are more important.

Alot of people have been telling me the same thing about the "money pit trap". I feel myself doing the same so in being that the car was made to be N/a , I think I'll do the same. Plus I'm kind of in the long haul too. Mo' power, Mo' problems, Mo' money(which I dont have) Thanks alot, this has been bothering me for the past month. But I'd also like to hear everyone elses opinions, Maybe this will help someone else.

for the long haul, i'd say NA also. plus you'd learn a lot more doing the NA mods than bolting on a turbo and leaving it at that. i'm more "tuner" mentally than "racer" and find this route more fulfulling. not to say i won't go turbo down the line

Even though I am a boosted Mirager, I agree with everything that these NAers have said. And to be honest, if I had to do it all again, I would stay NA. Like someone said, especially at the level that I am at it is a constant money pit. Not only am I goign fast but I need something to handle as well (suspension upgrades), I need to stop faster (brake upgrades) and then it gets really expensive quick. Then the constant babysitting and monitoring, is just stress. DOnt get me wrong, I love being boosted and it feels sweet to not fear any car on the road. At the same time, I think I would have been just as happy with a nice NA build, with more focus on overall driveability.

In summary, stay aspirated.

I kind of like what Im hearing.....Sounds like people digging down deep and letting it all out. I was close to going FI but I knew deep down that this car wasnt meant for it, thats why I asked this question. Horsepower is an addiction, no matter how much it costs, you always want more "sniff, sniff", ya know what I mean..... But you do have to know how to control it. It hurts that I'm never going to break 200whp, but I will have another car someday doubling that number with the same amount of money I have put into this one.
