CAI don't fit the 05 Lancer!

WTF! Take a look at the lower radiator hose on the 05. The rotten AEM CAI that came off an 02 doesn't fit anywhere without kinking the lower radiator hose. That damn hose sort of goes at a 45 degreee angle towards the battery, instead of sort of straight down like on previous models. Why do all these dealers say they fit 02 Lancer 2.0L manual tranny and above?

Because dealers really don't know what they're talking about. They were trying to preach to me that CAIs will fit on an Automatic transmission because it is "the same" as a Manual transmission...

I'll bet ya them bastards over at Mitsu made it that way for 05 on purpose so a cai can't be used.

Well I know darn well the lower radiator hose at least up to the 03 model heads straight towards the ground, but if anyone has pics of an 04 ES or OZ I would like to see how the hose goes.

don't have pics, but I checked the radiator hose on mine, and it looks exactly like your pics. But I've seen in the registry someone with an 04 ES and they have the aem cai installed......so I dunno, maybe you just gotta fit it in there I suppose.

is the piping of the aem cai similar to the injen cai? because of it is, LancerMMC has the injen cai installed, and he has an 04 ES, so if the piping is similar, maybe you can ask him how installed his.

Question is how? I tried and retried every way imaginable and I can't make it fit without pinching the radiator hose? Plus i thought the MAS was supposed to be pretty much level instead of angled downward?

hmmm, sorry man, just trying to help, but I really don't know, since I haven't done any mods on my engine yet. And I don't plan to run a CAI, I'm gonna be running a SRI. The only thing I suggest is asking some of the 04 guys who have installed CAI's in their cars how they installed it.

You could always try and replace your stock rubber radiator hose with some aftermarket tubing, but that'll probably cost ya more than you would want.

Well I gave it another try today, and after some modifications I managed to make it fit!

o yea i was thinking... would reversing the hose maybe fix it? maybe some dumba** at the factory put it on the other way around and made it inconvenient for some people like me and slovak... i dont feel like trying this myself at the moment because it would be too much work to drain the radiator... turn it around and c if it works...

Just wondering if anyone knoes
