Header Install

Newbie! Comin through!

After a bit of searching, it looks like the header wont be too hard to install. I just got mine from RRM today and im gonna be doing the install tomorrow since im free.

Just want to clarify a few things first before I do it because its been bugging me

First off, its ok for me to reuse the stock bolts and gaskets and everything right? A few people were talking about having exhaust leaks but they said it might be that they torqued the bolts wrong?

And on the topic of torqing the bolts, what are the correct torques for the bolts? I read somewhere that the four outside bolts on both ends are 24 ft/lbs and the five middle bolts are 17 ft/lbs? And what about the bolts connecting to the stock downpipe?

Reguarding the O2 sensor, all I gotta do is unscrew it from the stock manifold and screw it into the threaded hole in the RRM manifold?

Also, ive ordered a MIL eliminator but that still hasnt come yet. When my car pops the CEL, is the ECU compensating for anything or is the light just gonna come on?

And one more question, should I disconnect my battery to reset the ECU before I do the install?

All in all, this seems like a pretty straightforward job, unbolt, stick the new one in, rebolt. This will be my 2nd mod that I will be doing, with the first being my intake. My exhaust was done by a garage

I did the install like 2 months ago and I got all the info from this site. Its unbolt the old one and bolt up the new one, if you can work a wrench, you can do the install.

Well...I won't be as harsh. But one thing to add...you might want some "anti-seez" on that O2 sensor. Will help if down the road you'll need to replace or take off that new mani. And yes...disconnect the battery always when doing mods, just a good idea. Good luck.

The only thing that im REALLY REALLY unsure about is the torque specs on the header. Im pretty sure I read its 24 on the outsides and 17 on the insides but I just need clarification

22 lbs/ft out - 12 lbs/ft in. start on the middle bolt and alternate left and right til you get to the outer ones. this prevents exhaust leaks.

get it on already

o2 sensor

Make sure that you don't twist and turn the wires on the O2 sensor much cause they can go bad fast if you neglect them.....I would recommend unplugging the sensor and unbolting the harness......as you unbolt the o2 make sure the wires are turning with the sensor......like i said the wires are very delicate!!!

Well I got the thing bolted on to my engine but im in a bit of a snag. When I go to attach the downpipe to the header, I see that there are no bolts! Both ends are just threaded holes. So I check my stock exhaust manifold and the bolts are on the ends there. I go to try to take them out and it is just a big long threaded bolt with threaded ends on both sides!

Did I do something wrong removing the stock downpipe from the header? I got the nuts off of the bolts no problem and brought out my stock exhaust manifold.

Was there supposed to be hardware included with my RRM header to bolt it to the downpipe? Im gonna go to NAPA tomorrow and also call up RRM and see whats up.
