SirLancerLot, no need to be a dick. I have read all of the posts and yes I did read the other thread, but it was something I was WONDERING about, no need for all of your discouraging, negative, and otherwise just plain offensive posts. Keep in mind I know my fair share about cars and such, but its frustrating when others do not offer help but rather mock you.
Yes, it will fit. You will need ecu, wiring harnesses, engine mount points, new axles, brake assembly, suspension parts, transmission, engine and other parts necessary for the install. If you really know what you are doing and have a little money to spend, it is possible. I saw they have an article in the new superstreet magazine where they do a honda s2000 engine swap into a mazda miata. Go read that and you will have an idea of what you need to do. It includes custom fab'd parts, different mounting points for almost everything, wiring splicing into the CAN networks of the car, emissions controls, etc.. Don't forget with going from fwd to awd, there will be all that suspension and axle work re-doing.. and some new rims to fit those 5 lugs.. I say go for it.. impress us all. Make us say "no way, thats cool"
www.mirageforums.net and sell your Lancer and get a... Mirage! :wtg:

Do you plan on making the car AWD or just using the Evolution's transmission? I still don't understand that exactly from the information you've provided.
Thank you wiretap, thats the kind of response I was looking for, a descriptive, yet informative one, and no I wouldn't sell a lancer for a mirage haha but it's a nice idea.
It's not that I was looking for an ENCOURAGING response, more in the area of guidance or direction. But anyway, I recieved enough information from those whom were nice enough and decided to aid me in my search of relevancy to this topic. And again, my question was was it POSSIBLE to do.. I think I recieved sufficient evidence that it was and that's all I needed to know before I went out and actually tried something crazy like that.
and Hobie I was asking about the engine AND transmission if that clears that up for ya

Yeah, I know you want the tranny, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're moving over the driveshaft, center and rear diffs...which is what I was asking about. I'm guessing no, but I want to make sure.
I read somewhere you can bolt up a galant fwd tranny into the evo 4 engine
I'm not really quite sure but I guess you can search on that...
other than tranny issue
and mayble mounts I don't see any reason why it can't be done...
well getting parts might be an issue 2, and pretty expensive...

My advice if you want to do an engine swap on your lancer and get an evo engine is to buy a chassis, engine, transmission, ecu, doors, hood, roof, paint, bumpers, sideskirts, evo wing, trunk, seats, front seats, stearing wheel, dash, car frame, ecu, window motors, clutch, differentals, rims, tires, brakes, complete drivetrain, and window switches. it should run you around 32,000 if you want a 5spd or 36,000 if you want a 6 spd.

For two, there are Miragers who have done the Evo swap. It is not easy, but it is doable. It is even harder doign AWD.One guy got his engine for about 2400 shipped, and spent close to 10G altogether to get it to run.
For three, this IS a newbie question asked tons of time. Read around bro, please.
