Muffler help

As everyone know that has been keeping up with my threads seeing I lost alot of gas mileage by putting on my muffler here is another question.

If the piping on the muffler was larger then the stock piping could this also cause a loss in gas mileage. I can not actually measure the muffler size but the tip that comes out the end was 2.75 inches acrss which is .75 bigger then stock. Could this have cause it as well.

Thanks.

The tip outlet measurement really wouldn't effect the gas milage. BUt good luck with your troubleshooting. AH, by the way...have you tried disconnecting the battery to have the ECU relearn its maps. Just an idea.

Wait a minute do you have an intake on too? or is it just a muffler or cat back or what?

It was just a muffler back and no intake. Ive tried resetting the battery, changing plugs, chainging air filter and nothing helped. I went back to stock today.

Well im assuming since the tip is so big that the inlet and outlet on the muffler were the same size so it may have been too big of piping.

I figured it out I had a 2.5 IN/OUT on the muffler I had. I belive our piping is 2 inches. Would that have had a big effect on it. Shouldnt it be like 2 or 2.25 IN/OUT.

Thanks.

it should not be creating a HUGE loss in gas mileage, but I don't know what would from your mods. The 2.5" instead of 2.25" might create a bit less gas mileage, but a muffler is not a cat-back so it wouldn't change things that much. How much gas mileage have you lost anyway?

^^^better exhaust flow should create for better gas mileage, not a loss. strip the exhaust off and check for anything that may be blocking it, there was a thread on here from someone that had a clogged manifold (was unable to find it though), that would definitely affect your gas mileage.
