my header

i installed my RRM header today and it feels sweet. the midrange and top end pull a lot better now. and it also looks nice and shiny in my engine bay

the install wasn't hard at all, except for one bolt. the 14mm bolt on the far left in the bottom row by the pullies was PITA to get off. it's in a reallt awkward location and is hard to get leverage. now i just need a version 2.0 piggyback!

I bought the Kamikaze's today and assume they'll be here in like a week. Wish I could have afforded the RRM's. Does their's come with a downpipe? I have no idea how I am going to get that bolt off by the pullies. The rest seem easy enough.

Also, a million questions, does it make it considerably louder or just more noticeable?

no it doesn't. u would probably lose a lot of TQ by taking that out if u already have catback. right now i have I/H/E and the car pulls pretty damn good. i wanna see how far i can get N/A before going turbo. makes me wonder is 04-05 lancers respond better or worse to mods because of some of the new engine tweaks. haven't seen many dynos or times from new lancers

you wouldnt lose a significant amount of torque, i think that RRM decided not to make it because they didnt really see any gains with the dp. lets hope that the 04+ lancers will respond better with mods, but as far as i know, its the same engine and same ecu.

w/ catback and a header the loss of lowend tq wouldn't really be worth the 1 hp in the top end on a NA car.

Does the RRM header bolt up to the stock downpipe? I wonder if the Kamikaze does. Time to search.

yes the rrm header bolts right up to the stock dp, and the kamikaze comes with a new, more freely flowing dp than stock, that bolts right up to the header and cat.

EDIT: and with those kartboy exhaust hangers, expect some to hear some rubbing and rattling on the frame.
