Ah yes... New Lancer Owner...

Hey guys,

I'm new to the Lancer world... I'll give ya alittle bit of history... I'm young (22) but old school. I have a 1968 Mustang GT thats getting a built small block with an 8pt roll cage cause the track requires it...

Go fast in a straight line... check....

Now I want a daily/respectful driver with great gas mileage and maybe the ability to have fun @ an autocross event... so I stumbled upon an 02 Lightning Yellow OZ Rally with 30k on it for dirt cheap... (kid didn't know what he had) and bought it out from under him basically 4k under blue book value with Falken Z rated tires and 17" gun metal rims. I'm satisfied with the car... fits my needs...

But I have an addiction... speed/performance/unique "ness"

So here is what I want... for the time being I need some mechanical modifications that will NOT sacrifice fuel milege but help give it alittle kick in the pants and I will tell ya this computer controlled **** is beyond me for the time being, give me a carb any day but this is definately way more economical... suggestions...

PS: I MUST HAVE QUIET (as in I can hear a mouse fart) performance exhaust... if I buy exhaust I DO NOT want a bumble bee/rice rocket folgers can sticking out the *** end of it... not cool (for me that is)...

Thanks for input of where to start, I've heard great things about this board...

On Order currently:
1 Pair of Black headlights with 85k Xenons
1 Pair of Evo VII tail lights
1 Ralliart Grille
1 Short Ram intake w/ K&N large cone filter

God that stock airbox and grille are hidious aren't they?

Stylized... not factory they are fabbed to fit, but same type of three bulb set up... I can't stand the "altezza's" or whatever they call'em but I have found more OZ's in the area then I knew and I want mine to be mine if ya know what I mean.... and those Evo lights are awesome and they look to appear stock... plus the stock ones I have are minutely cracked and some water is in them...

I would go with the magnaflow catback exhaust. Nice stainless steel muffler and it doesnt look like your average "fart can". Its not loud at all either (unless you floor it). There isnt much you can do to boost up hp without going down the F/I route, which sucks about these cars. Your going to wind up spending about 2grand in parts buying a throttle body, intake manifold, header, piggyback, high flow cat, and intake to only notice a 10whp gain. Im curious to know where you purchased your evo VII tails and black headlights from? Does DEPO make them or are they custom? The intake you purchased is not going to do much but add some noise and look nice in the engine bay. If your going to autocross with it, I would spend the money on some tein superstreet coilovers first. They run about a grand from either www.roadracemotorsports.com or www.3n1motorsports.com (Both are great companies to deal with) The superstreets have adjustable struts you can set them for really stiff on the track and soften them up a bit when your daily driving.. The only thing that sucks is that you cant hook up a edfc so you have to adjust them manually. But, I def. think you should save up and purchase some tein super streets next. If your not looking to spend that much, get a progress sway bar w/upgraded perches and eibach lowering springs. Just to warn you, the ride with lowering springs and stock struts suck so beware. I hope this points you in some direction. Welcome to the site. Happy modding

Yeah I can build engines and rearends I figure if I want serious horsepower I'll build a Turbo kit for it as long as I can find some supporting peices first (injectors, intake manifold, fuel rail, ECU)

Thanks for the suspension advice, cause I really want to drop it on the weekend and raise it up during the weekdays for a much more comfortable ride... adjusted right do you loose any ride quality by adding a tien kit?

Also, how exactly does that piggyback work?

I am also looking in the nitrous department... I run a 200/300 shot on my Mustang and I was thinking about maybe tacking on alittle go go juice to this 2.0L... how do they hold up to nitrous and anybody have experience with it?

You can run edfc with the tein superstreet coilovers but NOT for our car because the hood sits to close to the struts and the edfc unit will not fit. If you searched, you would know this
