The difference will be negligible no matter how brilliant a design you stumble upon. Your best bet would be to install a CAI and call it a day, but honestly the difference between a CAI and short ram is so minimal that I wouldn't even make a fuss over it.

you guys a right but i was just throwing the idea out there and wanted to get some feedback which i did. I'm going to look into it. Plus i have an auto lancer so a CIA is out of the question unless i do a battery relocation.

i had a custom one done on my skyline R33 as i was told having a pod filter would be going backward as it will be sucking in warm air. first saw those cold air intake on a civic so i had one customer made for the skyline. performance wise was alittle better, no numbers as i didnt dyno test it. the only good side i can think of is it will be sucking in nice cool air instead of having a pod filter in the engine bay. cost afair bit to place on, clean, replace the airfilter as it did collect alot of bugs. anyways i reverted back to customer made air cold air box and that did pretty muc hthe same job. IMO dont waste your money on it, probably save more money getting a custom made cold air box

The basic problem (aside from fitment) would be the same. You'd be running the piping RIGHT next to the extremely hot transmission. People HAVE fitted the CAI's to their AT Lancers, but the piping sits RIGHT against the transmission housing, which is probably the hottest part of the engine bay outside the engine.

I have seen that in a Honda civic about two years ago, at first I thought it was an intercooler. It must be a PITA to remove and clean..

heat wrap i've contemplated that on my CAI for a while now. not so sure how much it would help but i figured it would be worth a shot. with the way i drive...it get's pretty hot under that hood.

I was hoping this thing would never make it to Evom.net forum.

nothing like getting a good laugh on a saturday morning though but yes its like said....i hoped this never made it to the forums as well. if somebody really wanted to do that to their lancer after being advised not too...i think i'd have to sit back and wait for the flames when they post pictures of it in their car.
