Not much low end?
Not much low end?
I have an 03 lancer oz. Well today ui went to the street races and somehow ended up racing another lancer that was the same year. The other car only had intake, whie i have both exaust and intake. Well he somehow beat me. I dont know how. I think that my car dosnt have as much power as it used to for some reason. It is sort of sluggish when im at low rpm and give it gas. 1 of my belts does squeek sometimes but i dont thik that that is the issue. I cant figure it out and would like to know some things i could do to fix this.
Thanks,

How well has your car been maintained compared to theirs? Have you owned it from new? Has it been tuned up recently? Also if you were at a track then how was your launch? Just because he only had an intake doesn't mean that you can launch poorly and still win? What rpm do you shift at? etc etc
There are so many variables to your question.

were they both manual ? And what diameter is your exhaust. Yes it is possible that your exaust killed enough back preasure/low end torque that something with JUST an intake could beat you.
Not much low end
Well both cars were manual. I dont have that big of an exaust i have a greddy evo2 catback exaust. I think that they are tuned to be the perfect size.
Ya i wish that i could really afford a piggyback. Right now i am still a high school student so i cant spend insane amounts of money on my car.
My friend Tim(hes a certified mechanic) thinks that is something that has to do with the belt slipping because he says that when it slipps the alternator dosnt put out enought power for a second so the coils arent geting much power. So ya, were going to check the tension on both the belts and then also the sparkplugs have never been replaced and i just hit 60K miles so i proably should replace them.
So i am going to do these things and see if they fix the problem.

you may also want to consider clutches, a clutch thats slipping more will KILL your launch. Also not to sound like a dick but he may have just flat out, out driven you if the cars were pretty well matched, in a hard race a couple hundred RPM between shifts will make it or break it.
Exactly one of my points.
I've beaten a Ralliart Lancer at the track ONCE. He did not know where to shift and once I got the jump he could not catch up. After a few tips the races aren't even close any more. I hope to do a few more mods to where I can make it a drivers race again, but that's a tall order since he runs 15.7s and my average times are in my sig.

.....consider the engine as well. my friend kyle has an 03 OZ with almost half the miles i've got on my car and he is a terrible driver...to sum it up --> his car can almost keep up with mine in 1st gear (and most of you know i have a pretty decent NA mods list)....now that i've hit 63k the car is just loosing it's GO.
.....but like DJ said. there are way to many factors. i just felt like naming another.
