Header

I have had a RPW Race header for almost a year, and I have NEVER had a CEL so I am not sure where you got your info from...

Header runners

About the 4-2-1 header long, and 4-1 short. That maybe true, but my RPW is a long 4-1. header... not a 4-2-1

ok. I live in florida. I bought my RPW headers through vision imports. Great customer service support, whole thing tax free and shipped from rpw was 575 for racing headers and downpipe. From what I've learned, if you don't want your RPW headers to be a pile of rust , in two years, you need some kind of coating. DIY $5-25$ which I hear doesnt work too well (flaking, etc) or the best way, JET HOT w/is $165 for their sterling (looks just like chrome to me) coating that protects up to 1300f. I don't know if their sterling finish turns blue and gold or not (or care). Fine for any of us N/A guys. If you want flat black, blue, and I think orange it's $25 on top of that. Plus shippping. I'm not super sure here, but if you want the 2000f coating (also in blue black and I think orange,) thats 165 + 65 (for 2000 degree coating) + 5$ extra per foot.

I don't own RRM headers, but I wanted as much low end torque in my grocery getter as possible. For that little gain in low end (whatever it's worth) I wanted to pay a little more for the RPW racing headers.

RRM's headers will turn blue then gold with heat - I think that looks fine but some people don't like it. RRM's Headers willwork excellent with their turbos. Some people don't want to be limited to only buying RRM parts. Personally, I feel they have proven themselves well, may loyalty live long and proud. Sure its only theres, but who else would you buy a turbo for your lancer from? For me that answer is obvious, RRM! but thats personal.

I could never even find where to buy kamikaze headers. From what I've read they are cheaper, do serve the purpose well. I've heard of some fitment issues, but I don't really know. Also with these I don't know about their coatings at all.

AND most importantly, I of course havent got any of my crap installed yet because I just got fired last week.

My philosophy is this: I know even if I had 4g's I couldn't afford to spend it on a turbo, so I'm all N/A. Florida, in my understanding, doesn't care too much about headers, etc. etc. and we're keeping the car at least 5 years until it paid off. CEL not too big a concern, but I bought RRM's cel eliminator (whats 20$ plus shipping?) and a duel o2 bung hi flow cat. There is no O2 bung (found out too late) on the RPW racing headers. Drop your o2 eliminator into the 2nd o2 bung, lengthen your o2 sensor wires as needed, then buy the (Still ongoing GREAT OFFER) RRM GREDDY muffler/resonater for $155 shipped. Pay a welder a hundred or two hundred to piece it all together and BAMMM there you go. That's just my opoinion from my readings , etc, and not being able to ever afford turbo.

If you're turbo, why wouldn't you just go all the way RRM. They've done it, you can see it. get their headers (the loss of torque won't matter since you're going turbo). If you don't want em to turn blue, either pay them a little extra for another coating or have em sent to JET HOT. Then you buy RRM"S turbo and waaahlaah. Sheesh, I'm salivating here....

P.S. Please note my screen name - it serves as a standing disclaimer to my automotive knowledge

i got an RRM header because: you don't have to mod it to fit, has O2 bung, no CEL. also the finish is great, i've had it almost a year now and it is still shiny silver like the day i bought it. ceramic coating doesn't change colors, it stays the same.

ive seem rrm headers after being on for a while that look just as bad as stock headers. I'm pretty sure they eventually will lose their finish.

The Rpw race headers

http://www.roadracemotorsports.com/drivetrain.htm

I like the length of the Rpw headers, but I don't know if it will cause CEL, or if it is legal in NY.

Which do you guys recommend for reliability and performance?

I don't have a star but I do have a .

I personally have the RRM headers and love them. I got RRM headers because eventually I might go with a RRM turbo setup.

yeah i saw that too. Cool stuff. but back when i was going to buy a used one off this site, there were 2 guys selling them and both had turned that brownish rusty look. but there was another that looked pretty good who said he had it on for a few months.

Just purchased and installed RRM header. Took 3 hours to get the stock manifold off. 20 min to install. Perfect fit. Love the sound and throttle response. Dont think it made much of difference in the HP department tho.

If you are worried about cel than you can just buy rrm's cel eliminator for 20 bucks and whatever ever other header you wish.

After reading a bunch of these threads it seems that:
1. rrm and kamikazee do work
2. RPW gives you more torque, which means better performance for our cars
3. Get what you can afford and you will be happy
