How come nobody has metioned the JIC-magic catback? It is the most expensive but I hear they are very good catback exhaust's. Finalstageauto.com carries it for the EVO8 and 02-03 Lancers.

Personally, I havent really heard too much about them. Beside, the thread took a turn to the custom piping area.

But you do bring up another choice in cat-backs.

Cuz less people own that than any other production exhaust I'm aware of. Does look pretty nice (despite the angled muffler), but the cost alone is extremely prohibitive. Not to mention half the people tuning their OZ's are in their early 20's or younger and probably won't be putting that much money into ANY one mod on their cars.

Rob, it's for the US Lancer.

Have RRM exhaust, but then you knew that. You guys should include RRM and also RMR. Not catback but more like the exhaust we OZ guys would buy and a really good value!

Mechanically speaking, aside from the suspension and available ABS on the LS, the Lancers are identical from model to model.

(That's a yes)

mufflertech.com has one. its not to bad i put mine on a few weeks ago. you can notice some gains but i would buy a different tip. because the obx one that they provide sounds like ****. it whines at high rpms around 4 up. i would just change the muffler tip. but it aint bad for 289 shipped. its really ricey. so i never go past 3500. but some one told me its because i still have my stock cat converter so who knows im gettin that replaced soon with a test pipe and my car will be cat-less. pretty tight

I'm fairly certain the sound will only get worse once you remove your cat. Be warned. The sound you're describing comes primarily from the muffler itself (design and baffling used), not just the tip of it.

I don't think it's possible to get either that high pitched 2-stroke motor sound, or that fartcan sound on our cars with just an exhaust setup - catback or not. I'm speaking from experience, having seen and heard the following setups:
Greddy catback + testpipe
Greddy catback
RMR axleback + testpipe
RMR axleback
Custom catback with 2.5" piping

If you're worried about the noise (tone), then any exhaust setup will leave you happy. It's when you get a header when the tone starts to change, due to freeing up the exhaust flow a ton. The only time I've heard our exhaust go from that nice deep rumble to anything significantly higher is when I was running an RPW header/downpipe, RRM testpipe, and RMR axleback.

Exhaust:

I just wanna say I got the Greddy Evo Exhaust put on last Saturday. Damn it sounds sweet! I had the Magnaflow on before that. If any of you know what the Magnaflow sounds like you'll love the Greddy Evo Cat-Back! A bit Deeper and Louder. I love it. The piping is nice as hell too. I am putting a Test Pipe on Today. Can't wait. If you want a damn good exhaust go with the Greddy. I am sure the Buschur is good as well. Hearing from Hobie it sounds pretty good. Yea the price is a little high for the Greddy but you will not regret getting it!!!!
