OK, here's the answer - it's the EXACT SAME HEAD. Same part number and everything. So the answer is "you bolt it on."

Only thing of note - the camshaft will NOT work in your car. 4G93 and 4G94 do not share a common cam profile. So you'd want to swap in your stock cam or a RRM/RPW cam.

I assume he's asking for the purposes of installing a ported 1.8 head he found/bought/etc. . . .

Nope 1.8L is single camshaft and it will work on a lancer. Blacksheepdj, Mitsiman confirmed that a 4G93 camshaft will work on a 4G94 engine. It's just a mild improvement over stock camshaft. Less low end torque, more top end.

It might physically fit, sure. But how the hell do you plan on converting your car to DOHC? What ECU will you run? What belt would you use to mate this FrankenLancer together?

hey all
ive been nagging mitsiman for months about this topic
apparantly the head dosen't fit. it may be in the same family of engines but the DOHC from the 93 won't fit the 94... heck it won't even fit the SOHC 93
the only way a 94 is going to have a DOHC is if you import the GDI engine then the car is going to have problems because the fuel you run will destroy the Direct Injection (we have the same problem in AUS)
i don't actually know if the 92 head will fit but im assuming not but having a 2.0L Mivec would be nice.
as for the belts if the head actually fit it wouldn't be a problem just have one custom made up or use a GDI belt and pully's

if any of this stuff sounds like crap let me know in a nice way im not trying to bull**** people but sometimes i find it hard to describe things

A DOHC G93 should fit. You have to find a Taiwanese Virage. Good luck. No one amongst the mirage community can get any physical contact overseas.

Even if you can fit a G92 MIVEC onto a G94 block, crank, and rods and make use of the MIVEC ECU, does anyone here believe their long stroke can take a +8K rpm abuse before taching out near 9K rpm, just wonderful noise.

GDI is a no go for the US. The head is much different.
