I have an ebay intake now and last time I was washing my filter, I found a hole in my intake. It looked like it was grinding against something but there was nothing there so I assume it burned a hole in it. I have manual.

It's the Transmission that makes a hole in the pipe on autos. As for Manual, you must have installed it wrong.

On the new Ford Focus' the MAF is WAAAAAAAAY WAAAAAAY far from the TB, its basicly under the car. They dont even have servicable air filters.

So I dont think it needs to be near the TB. Air still passes through it, it still sends a signal- Still works

that's not true. Take going Turbo for example. The MAF is before the turbo, so air passes through the maf, then through the turbo spooling, to the intercooler, right back up into the TB. Doesn't matter how far it is, as long as air passes through it, you'll be fine.

The verdict is we have been fitting these to australian vehicles for a long time now and don't have issues with the MAF unit being so far away from the TB.

We are simplifying our range and mostly using a 3" diameter piping kit now for maximun air flow for most model vehicles. Have done it to several cars now with great results over a 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" system
