Exhaust smoke.HELP!

So i put on a new muffler today and it sounds freakin awesome. nice deep tone. Apex'i N1 style muffler.

My Problem: sitting at stop lights and stop signs lets the air around my car settle and now i can start smelling the fumes coming from my exhaust. when i looked at it after i got home it had some smoke comin out and i figured that was what i smelled.

i have an 02 lancer es with 70k miles. is my car too old for this? i dont wanna smell carbon monoxide everytime i chill at a stop light and i dont want my buddies with motorcycles inhailing my smoke. what can i do??

HELP ME!

Have you had your car tuned up? looks like your car could use some maintenance.

Exhaust leak? Did you touch anything else when you had the muffler installed?

If you just put your muffler on today it takes a day or so to burn off all the crap on the inside of the muffler. My car smoked like a Bi*tch first time starting it up after the catback install, and if memory serves when i had my DSM it smoked a little too after the muffler install. Give it a day or so to burn everything out of the inside and you should be good

that totally sounds like it sucks.

im about to get headers and a down pipe installed probably the end of next week begin of week after.

as for the maintenance, ive had the car about 2 months, done all my oil changes, check ups, and so on. i do mostly all my own work except for the welding and stuff that requires a shoppe. that hookup has yet to be made.

i wasnt far from the guy and only looked to see what he was doing like twice. i know the smoke is coming from the very end so it isnt a leak and i know he didnt mess with anything else. sigh.
