RRM CamShaft & RRM Pulleys

And these shops really expect to sell parts? Are they expecting ppl to just buy a cam because they can brag "I have a RRM cam" or "I have a RPW cam"? Why bother putting the parts on the web site until there is some positive feedback. Offer the parts to some loyal customers for cost (or less). If the feedback is positive, place the product of the website and tell the loyal customers to put out the good word. If the feedback is negative, tell them it was a preproduction peice and offer to buy back the product or have the loyal customers offer feedback on what could be done better. But dont just offer the product to the public and say "hey we have a product. Buy it because we made it so it has to be good."

There are like 3 other people that feel the way you do. 99% of the world will accept that the mod will make a benefit and just buy it. Trust me, you're in the minority.
When I buy an Edelbrock part for my Camaro, I don't call up Vic Edelbrock and ask for a dyno sheet. I buy it based on the stellar reputation of the company and their parts. As Rob's signature says, RRM is essentially the standard for Lancer parts. So when they make something available, the customers know it's going to do what it's supposed to.
If you sit around begging every vendor for dyno charts, you'll never buy any parts. Not every vendor has the time to "prove themself" to you when the other 99% of their customers will buy things "no questions asked."
PS - your advice only applies to companies that are too small to do R&D. Real companies actually test the product THEMSELVES.

So what if Edelbrock came out with a new Intake Manifold and all they tell you is that it will bring out the most in your setup. Dont you ask yourself what exactly that means?
And im not begging for dyno charts. Nobody ever has em anyway. I know big companys have R&D but they also have a marketing department and sometimes they tend to confuse the 2. That why i want a peer review. Someone like you Blacksheep beacuse you are not partial (I think). Someone who would say, "Wow that was a waste of money for what i got out of it." or "That was the best mod since the Piggy." I just dont understand why a company would want to place something for sale with out a buzz about it in the community. A2's turbo kit comes to mind.
Lets face it. The Aftermarket tuner market is just about fads. The cool thing to do today just aint cool tommorrow.
And your right. Most companys want to be the first on the market so they will build a fleet of sheep that dont ask questions.
Do you honestly think that every company in the world has the time or the money to dyno every one of their products in every situation? With something like a camshaft its not as simple as just saying "it will give x horsepower", it is very dependent on the other mods you have. Peer review is useless because people have differing views on performance. Some people think a grounding kit makes them faster others do not, some people think a muffler makes their car do a 13 second 1/4 mile, others do not.
How is the aftermarket market about fads? Since when was performance a fad?

Well, the short answer is that no one on the boards seems to be running the cam yet. So we really have no information. It's going to take someone plunking down the money and taking a chance before we know.
Dynoed
I will personally have every mod dynoed, since i have access to a free dyno. As of right now I have the RRM Pully, Piggy Back, and a Exhaust with a 2.5". My car is also lowered if that makes a difference, and I only have Good Year Assurance on my wheels.
A year ago when I ran without any mods, I had a 1/4 mile of 16.83, when i ran it again with all my new mods I got 16.43. Now im pretty sure i can do better since one of my runs i got 16.07.. I'll run it again and post on here.

Don't know how I missed this thread. As for dynos, we have done more than our competition put together but that is not the point. The point is we do dyno appropriate things. Some things depend so much on other mods it is not appropriate or accurate to dyno everything.

Ok. What is the potential for the cam then? Have you seen enough of an increase to make it worthwhile or should we wait for a more product (AKA turbo) specfic cam probably from RRM?
This is a mild grind cam. Anything more aggresive and it will be more money and may require springs etc.... Do not plan on any new cams from us though. We are concentrating on new products for Mitsu and other makes right now.

Thank you very much for being to the point.
BTW: Other makes eh? That includes Suzuki right? The more i look at the SX-4 the more i think i need another car. What do you think the potential for the SX-4 is Rob?

I agree on the camshaft dyno, it just wouldn't be worth it unless you have the exact same car with the exact same parts (or close to them). The smallest things like intake or exhaust would make the dyno different with a cam, so all you can really say is that it will provide an increase in performance, just all depends on your mods.
We just got some cams from machinist today. Good news is he says he was able to get a little more aggressive with the grind so we are going to sell these. We cannot try it on our car so I guess it will be up to the next guy to buy one. H@LL we don't even have a N/A Lancer at our shop!

They are a limited run thing. We will judge response to it and decide how many to do. We make very little on it so from a business standpoint, I won't miss it but so many people hate having to buy from outside the U.S. I guess it is expensive and they hate waiting months for certain parts.
So...........
