Engine Help

hey i need some help with my motor, i have been reading up on this but i still nee some help, so i just recieved my motor from the machine shop, they rebuilt the bottom end and the head, they did no reassemble the motor though. i need to know how to get the timing belt in the right position, i know that there is a small divit on the head that lines up to the dot on the timing gear, and there is asimilar setup on the bottom end. what i need to know is how to get the bottom end and the top end in sink so when i go to start it everything is good, so if anyone has a manual or knows it would be a great help. THANKS

If you don't know how to do it, don't do it.

Again, if you don't know what you are doing, don't do it. It's not as simple as just going through a manual, I mean there is a reason why mechanics go to school.

Its not that difficult.
If the head is off the block ensure that the cam gear is lined up at TDC for cyl. 1. Then make sure the block/pistons are at TDC for cycl. 1. Basically lining up the marks. Once you have the engine assembled turn it over a few times to ensure you have the timing mark lined up properly.

I would definatly try to get my hands on a manual though. Just so you have the proper assembly procedure on hand aswell as proper bolt trq. specs, etc.

Make sure you clean both head/block surface very well before you install the new gasket to ensure a good seal. I would also recommend you repace the headbolts as the headbolts are stretch bolts, only designed to be tightend/torqued once. Proper tightening sequence is:

7 5 1 3 10
9 4 2 6 8

just to give you an idea of the order the headbolts should be tightened in.
