Cold mornings

When you guys start your engine in the morning, at what rpm you idle sits? For some reason my idle sits at 2K, than when it's warmed up it sits around 700 and it seems that it's strugling like it would die. If I'll drive around little bit, than my idle would sit around 1k and engine runs smooth. Than, if I would turn off the engine and start right back, it would go back to around 700 and it would struggle. Help!!!

Is your car manual or auto. How far up north do you live, what are the temp's.... My car idols at around 600-700, now that i have my k&n Typhoon in.. only for 1 day.. when i stop, or like at a stop light i pull into nuetral, i go down to 400.. its soundin a lil harsh, low idol.. and check oil light goes on, then bounces up to 500-600 and the light flickers on n off.. its around 35 degrees here... For your problem.. i dont think the car would be struggling @ 700 rpm... it sounds like u have a auto tho. but let us know. but it shouldnt be much of a problem

I do believe Lancers usually idle at warm up around 15k. Then they drop down around 500-700 depending.. I dunno about your stalling feel though.

my check engine is on b/c of no cat. Ohh, I forgot to mention, I'm burning little oil, either valve seals or piston rings. Before it wasn't as bad, it's getting worst.

My 4g64 idles high at warm up. It usually sits at 1.5k or so for a good 4-5 minutes (more if under freezing....), then drops down to 1k until it's at normal temp.

Your Lancer's engine should be perfectly happy at 700rpm, provided it's warmed up enough to be fully lubricated. How long does your cold idle last? Where is the temp gauge when it drops revs and begins to struggle?

The oil issue could be the culprit. If you're losing oil, you may not have enough to cycle through during warm-up stages....

I know I'm losing oil b/c when I went to the dyno, there was alot os smoke. So hopefully the oil is my problem. In 2 weeks everything should be fixed; complete rebuilt.
Thanks guys.

i'm a bit late on posting but which tps are you running? 2g eclipse?
to adjust it you first need to make sure the butterfly is corrected with a feeler gauge
then probe the tps harness with key almost on for correct voltage
Did you bypass the coolant too? i found it takes forever to get rid of high idle this way.

Thanks for help. I'm using 1g tb. By using feeler gauge how I'll know that butterfly is corrected. I never done this and I'm clueless.
