Already Searched: need real info on 4G63-T swap

what i need is info what i don't need is a$$holes! i searched on this already and every result that looked close was only people *****ing at other people saying to search it was rediculous!!!!

Let me clear this up first.. i guess i really want a 4G63-T...i would like to know what is actually needed do do the swap? ECU and Engine obviously, is the trans needed and if so will the shifter cables match up? what else does not match up? i am seriously considering doing this because i think i can find a motor, trans, and ECU chepaer than a turbo kit from RRM, and i don;t care for the SOHC 16v idea, i like the DOHC 16, along with the reputation i have heard of the 4G63 i don;t see how i can go wrong with it.

warrenty on my car is not the biggest concern... i have had my car for about a half a year... (slightly over) and i alreayd have 18,000 miles on my car, i do a ton of driving... so my warrenty will not be valid for much longer anyways... i perdict another year or and a half added on... if i get a new enough 4G63 i don;t think i should have problems...

if i could get info on the topic rather then *****ing i would appreciate it, or even a link to the many topics that supposedly had already taken place and hopefully get an answer...

Ok man, I won't *****. However I can't answer your questions, I'll tell you right now the cost to do everything to make it work would be so outrageous, it is absolutely pointless. We have all dreamed of how nice it would be to do it, but it's simply not practical. Now, maybe somebody can answer your questions.

hmm... i wonder where you guys gt swap prices haha... it's about $2k to pay someone to do a 1.8t swap from a GTI to a Corrado which includes all of the wiring and and fitment... when they're done turn the key and go... hmm is it really that involved ot do this swap? motor mounts don't line up at all? and you can't search much bettert than i did... i looked at all posts pertaining to the search of 4g63 that had to do with a lancer...

The evo is basically completely different from the US Lancer in every way except for similar looks. This isn't dropping a VTEC in a honda. We've been waiting forever for a better engine that we can just drop in...there just isn't one yet.

And yes. It really is that involved to do this swap. The motor mounts would be the least of your troubles.

Note the search string in the hyperlink. It was bout 7 threads down in the results.

Wanna know why it'd be so expensive? Because nobody's (to my knowledge) done it. Your Lancer is NOT your VW, it is not a Honda or Acura. The Mitsubishi engines are not made to be easily swapped (in most cases), and if you expect it to be cheap and simple then you're going to be in for suprises.

Just find Lanevo and click his write-up.

Most people ask this Q don't have the time, money, effort, and dedication to the craft. This is not a quick fix within 48 hrs. If so, there should be tons of hybrids enough to scare off DSMs. Is that the case? Nope.

You'll be lucky to find a dozen w/ such hybrids in the US for the past decade. A good majority of them are doctors and lawyers with tons of money to toss to the wind. Next time you go to a big car show, and there are Evo 4-6, check the firewall. If it doesn't say a 4g63T, it's a hybrid. Find the owner, you can bet he's not a regular joe.

Also, if you're really set on a swap. Look for a 4g93T Gen 2 (having the same t-belt orientation) in Aussie (price might be similar to an E4 due to extreme rarity . . . in JPN, they called the motor as little evo) . . . Gen 2 motor has about 205 flywheel HP. Want Ecu, look up Mines of JPN.

It's either called the Lancer GSR (not Evo GSR) or VRX. Remember this motor is extremely rare . . . there might be a year worth of waiting list.

I posted so that you can click on the link in my signature.

I researched for over 3-4 years in the topic and you might find some useful info in the FAQ.

Just like Hobie and bahamut said, you don't find too many of them running around the country since it's cost a lot of time/money and you can't just drop the 4G63 into a Lancer/Mirage and expect it to fit perfectly.

Just to give you some help here not about the swap but possibly another route. If you are seriuosly wanting a 4g63 in a car..seriously look into purchasing a 2g. I have seen several for sale for as low as 9k from private sellers...check out DSMtrader.com. Alot of these cars are even built up....so there is a good platform to start with. The 2g's make 210 hp not 205, I believe those were the auto's or the CA models if I remember correctly. As said before it is going to be a spendy swap. Why not save up a few k more and purchase a whole new car! Thats just my opinion. Then you will have two cars to play with..and not all the hassle of the swap.
