Best SRI for Lancers

I did some searching and while having just about any CAI seems to be superior to a SRI, CAIs are rare for automatics and typically are dependent upon the model year. Which leads to my question - what is the best SRI for the automatic Lancers?

DIY SRI would be just as good. Bypassing that maze called an airbox is the goal.

RMR is the best SRI if u ask me......why?? Cause it allows u to use the factory snorkel which will help you bring the more air to the filter. And yeah, filter is freaking huge !!!

Hell no!!! I have ebay sri and I use the factory snorkel too. I have that intake for 5 years no problem. And I use k&n filter. For the price you can't beat that.

THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!!!!!

heatshield makes virtually no difference. CAI & SRI are the same performance wise.
Personally i think a DIY intake is the best..............because it is cheap!

I have:
Autozone Steel Mesh Filter $40
Autozone MAF Adapter $15
Homemade Heat Shield $11

Total: $66

works just as well as any Injen, RRM or Typhoon.
Although it is reccomended to use a K&N filter, they are the best for the price.

I can't seem to edit the poll after it has been posted - perhaps a moderator can help us out?

In regards to the Ebay and customs SRI - wouldn't they not be "technically" CARB legal? One of the advantages that and after market SRI seems to have is that they have done all of the CARB paper work.

Your right, they wouldn't be card legal. It matters what state you live in and what laws they have.

DIY is the way to go. Also RMR has a nice heat shield that uses the stock snorkel.

There is no Best SRI, they are all the same.

Question: Why the steel mesh filter??

RMR is the best.

steel mesh filter because when i bought it i didn't know any better, and my ricer friend told me it was the best.
I've never gotten around to replacing it. Eventually. It works just as good as a K&N, but obviously doesn't filter as well.

Yeah i got the AEM dryflow and it works really good. Plus you dont have to worry about the oil. cleans up real easy. Got it off of ebay. Those steel mesh look cool but it doesnt seem like it would be safe.

it probably isn't. i cleaned out my throttle body a couple of months ago and it was pretty dirty. I really need to get a new filter. It's just one of those things i never think of. Maybe next paycheck.
