Lancer N/A Guys.... have a few questions for you

I am considering getting a new daily driver nothing spectacular just something better than my '95 167,000 mile Jetta. I found a pretty decent deal recently... or at least I think I did. It is a '02 Lancer ES w/ 89,000 highway miles for $4999. It is black w/ tan interior and the car is CLEAN. Automatic trans, power windows, locks etc...

Just wondering what the reliability is on these. I do not personally have any experience at all with them and just wanting to get some input before I dive in. I dont want to drop $5k on something that is going to last 10,000 miles then be a problem prone POS.

Feel free to post your positives and negatives im open to hear everything.

Thanks in advance!

hey I have a 02 OZ with almost 120k on it and havent had a single problem since I bought it new...Not a single one. Changed the belts and water pump a little after 100k and they were still in great shape...

I have 97k on mine and the only time it has been to the dealer was to replace the timing belt at 95k (figured it was about time).
It is a great daily driving car.

I have no experience with the auto transmission though.

Great car. I even got my girlfriend to get one. They look so good sitting next to one another.

Great reliability. Just expect it to run like a turtle with a broken leg.

Taking a stance on the "unpredictable" side, should the engine go out earlier than expected a replacement one with low mileage can be found for extremely cheap. I purchased a replacement for a little over $300 after freight shipping when my first engine went out. Not too shabby.

I'm auto as well, and don't have single complaint! At just about 75k, and haven't needed to use the $1300 extra warranty at all... Only things I've had to do myself, is the brakes, brake rotors, oil, tranny fluid, etc etc. I think you get the idea. Besides it having the ES tan interior, it sounds like a good deal to me...
