Horsepower gains

This is mostly a general question, but what are the average horsepower gains from adding a short ram intake, axle-back exhaust, and a test pipe to a US Lancer?

Maybe 10 horse.

I wouldn't expect much. I'd worry more about the torque you'll lose from the intake. It helps top end, but low down you might bog, at least with my RRM.

If you are lucky probably about 4-5 hp. Umm... as far as I know it is not possible to lose torque from an intake... i could be wrong... but it does not change the back pressure for the engine in the least which is what is critical to torque. If you put on a catback exhaust and no intake then you'll lose torque...

u should do a catback exhaust... there is hardly any gains (if there is any at all) from an axel back exhaust... those are jus mainly for looks and sound... not performance

Gawd. Even at the crank that's a ridiculous figure. I'm not even bothering to look at your other mods, cuz unless you're running turbo it's not possible to gain that much hp with a single mod.

And even after reading your mod list, I still wanna see pics.

On an NA car, the intake/testpipe/exhaust will prolly net you around 10-15 hp tops.

sounds like an ex-civic owner to me. i hope you have a turbo under that hood, and if you do, did you dyno it at like 3 psi or something? there is an unspoken rule; throwing out numbers like that need some kind of explanation...

If you guys actually take the time to look at his profile he has a T-28 Turbo on it... so 160hp isn't unreasonable in the least... granted a dyno sheet or something would be good backup... but 160 isn't unreasonable given the mods he has.

Try reading before ya start dissing on someone on here! When you start dissing before reading... then you are the "ex-honda owner" to use your "insult"

Looked at profile - check
Saw pics -

What I saw was a pretty pointless post, seeing as how Pboccia was asking about what I'm assuming is an NA setup and the related gains. Where a custom turbo setup plays into all of this, I don't understand.

I wasn't referring to you ghostrider I want to see pics too as anyone can just say they have a turbo. I was referring to all these guys who keep asking/wondering if he has a turbo and the like.

I also agree... the custom turbo has more or less nothing to do with this thread topic for the axle back exhaust... so the posting of it was just an attempt at pimp points and recognition which is kind of pointless and has done little else but take this thread off topic...

Now as far as this thread is concerned:

If you want horsepower gains then don't bother with an axle back, go and get a catback, custom or prefabbed. If you just want sound and looks then go ahead and get your axle back, but it won't sound as deep or nice as a catback exhaust. The best gains you can expect from an exhaust on our cars is probably about 5 hp.

I'm confused. Wouldn't there be a little bit of a power gain with an axel back exhaust?

if you consider the POSSIBILITY of 1 or REALLY optmistically 2 hp a hp gain... then sure... but you I doubt you'd even really get those gains... possible though. So assume you'll see 1.5 hp. Good way to spend 260 bucks?
