True. If they have only only one stage than why tell. If they would tell you that than you could just take your cam and rigrind it.

P.S. ROCK. Did you send my engine mounts yet (for mirage)?

RRM can do business however they choose. You are the one that decides whether you buy from them or not. That's all I can say.

And since I've already been spoken to once today for "vendor bashing", I'm going to stay out of this now...

I remember a vendor a little while ago that posted up some so called gains on their site. Turns out it was all wrong. RRM is more trust worthy, thats why a lot of people go to them for lancer products. Its also really not worth dynoing every product they have such as a CAI, Header, etc.

thats fine, im not going to go to war with this. it isnt hard to go order an rpw cam or get a stock mirage cam, i wass just giving them a chance to earn MORE of my buisness. sadly this site seems to have a lot of people modding cars with rediculous brand loyalties. i like choosing products on actual performance and proven specifications. im wndering if i should spend 75$ on a mirage cam which is roughly the rpw stage 1 auto, or perhaps give rrm 389$.

Wait, wait. Let me get this straight, a stock Mirage cam will fit and is a performance upgrade for the 4G94. First time I've heard that. I wonder what the difference is, performance wise, between RPW cam, RRM cam, Accolade cam (which I think is the same as RPW), and a stock Mirage cam. Anyone know?

4g93 cam is plug-in & play.

Stock 4g94 cam has 240 intake and 248 exhaust duration. 4g93 cam has 248 intake exhaust duration.

as i said the stock mirage cam is the same as rpw stage 1 rpw cam for autos.

im assuming rrms grind is around the same. im hoping it is a little more aggressive though!

for those who dont know the 4g93 cam is a more aggressive grind because it has the 1.8, we have the 2.0 so we got a less agressive camshaft. im wondering if i should just swap.

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents in on this one. First, for a disclaimer, I haven't bougth anything from RRM (yet), but plan to buy some stuff in the future, so I'm not bashing ANY vendors here at all.

I can definitely understand Cindy's concern (I hope I'm getting the names right). Having built quite a few engines in the past (the way I wanted them), I can understand wanting to know the specs of given parts. Especially, for instance, when picking out pistons it's a good idea to know the specs of the cams you're working with. At the same time, I can also understand RRM's decision to keep the specs proprietary...we live in a world of reverse engineering, and if they put the research into, they'd probably want to keep the benefits to themselves.

That being said, if you get a cam degree wheel kit with dial indicator, you can find out the specs yourself (granted, you'd have to buy the cam first). I'm sure RRM wouldn't want you posting the specs for all to see, but they probably wouldn't mind you confirming if they are more aggressive than the Mirage stockers...that's something to work out with them though.

Another route you can take, if you truely want to build the engine the way YOU want it is to order a custom cam. Although it is a little pricey to do it this way, it's not extremely pricey compared to current market offerings. I was looking into this a number of years ago through companies such as Crower and Iskanderian (big names for the muscle car arena) and basically, if you give them the specs (and maybe even a used cam they can use for any additional measurements they'd need such as cam bearing journals, etc.) it become a much more realistic approach.

I guess to sum up my essay here, if you're content with utilizing the experience that RRM or similar companies have devote countless dollars and hours into R&D, and trust their advice, then you should be fine with any offerings that are out there. If, on the other hand, you want to completely blueprint your build and have everything just the way you want it, based on YOUR experience (but utilizing some experience from component manufacturers as well), then do the number crunching, take plenty of measurements, and the sky's the limit...
