Noticing something odd
Noticing something odd
A couple of days ago I did the whole timing belt and water pump thing. At the same time I installed an RRM pulley. Now I'm noticing less low end pull than I had before. All thats done to the engine is an Ingen SRI. Now could the lost be from me mistiming the belt or does the weight of the new pulley have something to do with this?
When I did my timing belt I messed with changing it one tooth advanced and one tooth retarded. I noticed that the idle got rougher when it was off a tooth (in either direction). Since you have an sri, could the difference be due to the steadily increasing temperatures? I know my car turns into a total dog when it's hot out.
To put it simply, did you mark TDC on the crank/gear against something (ie head/block) to make sure it didn't "travel" on you while installing? Unless you have an adjustable gear, I'd try advancing it one tooth and see if that'll do yah!
Good luck!

Thanks for the help but I think it was all in my head now. I don't know, it just started working again like it always had. I most likely just worried it up. I had a guy at work do the job for $250 instead of going to the shop and getting charged almost $500. What do you know, he knew what he was doing after all.

yeah i asked the guys at RRM after they installed my crank pulley if i needed an ECU reset and he said no.......it's jsut a crank pulley, it's not controlled by the ECU anywayz, so no need to reset it.
You do however need......well not need, but it helps to reset the ECU after any of the more common mods

I would say if you have the money to kinda throw away then you should pay some one to do it. I love working on my car myself, but I love my running right more. If you're comfortable with setting timing marks, torqueing everything down, and having fun keeping up with all bolts and where they go; then go for it and do it yourself. A really good site I always use for info. is www.alldata.com. You have to pay for it a year at a time though but it's worth it.
