Problems with AEM CAI
Problems with AEM CAI
I have searched around the forum, yet I cannot find anybody that had the same problem as me. I might not be searching for the right stuff, but please somebody help me. I just installed an AEM CAI on my 2003 lancer OZ-Rally, and I am having a lot of difficulty getting the car to run right. The car does not idle correctly, it dies occasionally when I come to a stop or somtimes even at idle. I have checked to see that my Mas is on correctly, even though it is upside down but I have tried both ways now. I was also getting the check engine soon light, but currently it is not on because I reset the computer again. give it another 10 miles and it will probobly come on. I let the car idle for about 10 min after I connected the negative terminal to the battery, then drove it easy for about 20 miles. Now if I get on it, it lugs down a bit and only starts to take off at around 3500-4500 RPM, like it is getting eaither to much air or not enough, not sure which. Over all it just is not running right. If anybody has any ideas I am open to any sorta solution. Thanx
I've had it for over a month now, I don't think they will want to take it back after that long. I am just looking for a solution without replacing what I have. I will give it a shot to put the stock one back on. any other ideas would be nice
Make sure everything is tight and you have all the vacuum lines hooked back in, and be sure you don't have the MAS backwards. You didn't say how long you dissconnected the battery, but it should be dissconnected for at least 10 min., good luck!
First of all, Injen and AEM are almost identical. The brand isn't the problem.
IMO, and I only thought of this because I have an AEM myself... 1. When you installed the pipe, did you make sure none of the foam peanuts were static-clinging to the inside of the pipe? That's one guess.
2. Another is, did you knock or ding the MAS?
3. Lastly, did you double even triple check all your connecting rings? If there are any leaks, which honestly, it kinda sounds like you have, it would seriously effect its performance.
EDIT: Yeah, double check the vacuum line. And install the MAS rightside up.
In short, I'd just uninstall and reinstall the whole thing, inspecting all the pieces. Hopefully this will help. If not, contact AEM for a replacement.
Good luck.

I have an AEM and my MAS has been on upsidedown for almost a year. I left it that way so I could play with that screw on the bottom. Upside down is not the problem. I would look at the mas itself and the connector, dirty connection, bent pin (does it have pins
), pulled wire from connector, ect.
