Custom exhaust.

Ok, I have found a shop to do my exhaust. I gonna do a custom axle back. Here is where I need help. I'm gonna go canister muffler, which one should I go with? I want deep and I don't wanna sound like a pissed of bee coming down the road. He said as long as I get the muffler, he'll do the pipes and the welding for $100. Is that a good price?

Pretty good price, Yes. As for the muffler..... get one with a big canister. The smaller the muffler....the more like a bee you sound. Also the tip will make it sound a little different. DOnt get the magnaflow with the dual walled tip.....sounds like crap on every car I see. But Magnaflow is a good bet.

Before I got my greddy, I wanted to get a Meagan with the carbon wrap and burnt tip. I still kinda wish I had, it looks sooo good. You can buy them seperate too.

FWIW, I'm not trying to be a dick. But you're basically asking US what muffler YOU would like best. That just doesn't work.

I personally went with a Magnaflow muffler and tip. It is the exact same setup as RRM's and I paid $160 for parts and install... I would go with a reputable brand, but thats up to you.

wow the shop I went to yesterday quoted me at $75 for the pipes and welding on a muffler... From what I've heard greddy and hks have some really nice sounding mufflers... I'm in the same boat as you, trying to figure out what muffler, size, and whether or not I should get a resonator...

Sheep, you of all people should know that a large portion of people who are on forums like these are just there to show their car off to others and have them say things like "Wow that is awesome." What better way to do it than to have the people of the forum tell you how to mod your car?

I love seeing threads where the topic is "Want advice on X" when really all they should have is a little vote tab saying "Whichever has the most votes is what I will do whether I like it or not"

In that case, I vote you leave the exhaust stock. Why waste money just so you can have a noisier car AND lose low-end torque? So you can gain 1whp?

There you go.

Hey Specialk don't sweat them the don't even have Exhaust on there cars so its hard to take any advice from them. There is nothing wrong with asking for advice rather then just going out and throwing the wrong/ricey thing on your ride. I would for sure go with MagnaFlow good products for good prices. And when you do get one installed your going to flip when you see that stock Exhaust get dropped off there. As for the tip you can stick with Magna but there is a ton of nice tips out there you can check out.

Thanks showtime. I had magnaflow mufflers on my camaro. now i know that has nothing to do with my lancer, but i did like the way they sounded. im the kinda person who takes one step forward and then two steps back. so hopefully i will find out which one i will go with.
