New Exhaust Put In!!

So I finally got my exhaust put in, after a week of waiting! It sounds great, and I would of taken pictures, only it's been raining the last 3 days lol. Hopefully it'll be nice tomorrow so I can put some pictures up and possibly a video clip or 2. Btw, I did a complete different exhaust. It's a Greddy exhaust, and I ran a cat back, with one resonator. Everyone who's seen it loves the sound, cuz it's sounds beastily

Wouldn't cat-back be the same as axel-back?

Depends. Maybe he removed more piping than RRM. Maybe he did a catback from the cat near the front wheels.

No. A cat back runs from the catalytic converter (towards the front of the car) all the way to the rear. An axleback only runs from the rear axle back (essentially just the muffler section)

Welcome to 2008. It's been said that there is a catalytic converter at the rear axle, right before the muffler.

Hence, any exhaust that keeps the stock cats is both a catback and axleback.

The Cat is below the car just past the car's firewall. There is a resonator near the axle. These cars only have one cat. I don't think it would make much difference with power, but it is probably louder.

As already posted, multiple people have said otherwise (including Rob from RRM). Until I see a picture inside that back pipe, I'm going to stick to what I've heard more.

Yea I'm interested on what exactly got replaced. I'm going in saturday to have my exhaust custom made and ordered. I've heard that there is actual loss in HP with a full cat because of the pressure loss. If I do get one installed I'll take pics of everything and perhaps a video of Mead Engineering if they will let me. I'll tell them it will get them more business.

I understand. I have lifted the car up, and if it makes a difference I am a ASE certified Technician, and I Have a Bachelors of Applied science in automotive technology. I have not cut into it to see if there is a catalyst in there, but it looks like a resonator to me and the down steam O2 sensor is up front in the first cat.

So if it is a cat every one should cut it off because it is not being monitored by the ecu and is just restricting flow.

I don't doubt your qualifications, FWIW. It does LOOK like a resonator to me, but again, I'm just going to trust what I've heard until I actually get to see inside.

I am not familiar with mitsubishis caps program, but I would think it should have something in there about it.
