yo lancer408, just take the class(i think you still got to pay for the ticket itself)!! cuz after finishing the class, that speeding violation won't show up when your insurance needs to be renewed!! better pay to pay for the ticket + traffic school unless you don't mind higher insurance rates! hope you take my advise cuz nobody told me... now i'm paying for it! DAMN THE "MAN"!!!

Unhappy headers and exhaust!!!

Hey there guys,

Also a little off the topic, just wondering what the gurus on here think about this!!!!! I just had a Kamikaze set of headers w/downpipe put on along with a cb exhaust that removed the resonator. But my question is you guys say that this mod would make the biggest difference I think my ride is slower now??? Any ideas?? Also I get a knock upfront when I start the car wondering what the hell is that???? I am taking it back this Monday but wondering what everyone thought. Also got a muffler put and its too loud for my peference(too ricey) Wondering how to quiet it and still get the performance????

thanks,
Joel

hmmm. so you're saying with the mods that you installed actually made your car SLOWER!?! i'm kinda new to this mod-upgrading stuff but that still does'nt sound right(no offense). maybe something was'nt bolted on tight enough? yeah man, have that checked out. hopefully someone else online will have an answer for you. as for me, i still need to order those RRM headers next week(its a holiday) and maybe the throttle body too. sounds kinda complicated with having to ship your stock TB back to them. well i got the weekend to decide. by-the-way, hope everybody had a nice 4th of July...mines was a tad boring.

It's just not possible for your car to go slower with an aftermarket header unless it was installed incorrectly. It just isn't.

It might seem slower accelerating if you don't have the proper breather mods (intake, throttle body) to help even out the speed at which you're pushing out the exhaust. Plus, with an aftermarket exhaust, it's almost certain that you're losing some backpressure as it is without the header, and installing an aftermarket one will only amplify that loss of low end torque.

Overall though, I'm pretty sure you've gained power in the mid/high rpm range. Get out on the highway and get your car above 4k rpms, then tell me you lost power.

I have no clue where that knocking can be coming from.
And yeah, that throttle body will help with low end torque. You've already got an intake, so the next mod to go from there to even out the power band would be an air/fuel controller and/or a fuel pressure regulator.

Ha another knocker. If you want to know what it is get under the car and follow the downpipe where it goes under the frame. Try to put your finger through there you cant cuz it is about 3/8" gap. Everytime you start the car, or let it stumble, or go around corners at 35 with the gas on the floor, the downpipe is going to hit on the frame.

That sucks... can't believe it was designed that way... as for low end torque the TB is a good upgrade to add that back and the FPR is a must as the car runs so rich with all the mods you have... only down low though. Up high is fine but an FPR will be able to lean you out especially down low. You'll want to get and AFR to adjust it in right.

does a TB really add back some low end? i figured if the TB is larger then air actually goes slower in the low end making it much more of a mid-high end mod. well if so, i might just re-prioritize the TB.

Throttl body designed to allow better flow and denser air mixture. This gets air into the richer low end leaning it out more. It is still rich which is why i recomment FPR on NA motors but TB helps low and really helps mid to high!
