so why would mitsu****su do that? 2.0 for 07-08 then 2.4 for 09, what next 3 litres for 2010? different size engine for different year?!? great. kinda like they're saying "suckers" to to the previous lancer owners.
Those engines probably werent done for these first 08s
look at european cars dude. each alfa romero or opel is has like 6 different engines available. i believe mitsubishi is even doing that with most of their vehicles in other countries as well. they are just playing the US market.
what irritates me more than the engine? the japanese 08 lancer, the Fortis, comes with AWD and is already on sale.

Man there is very little trade restriction between the States and Japan. I highly doubt this is the reason. The EPA may have a small part to play in it, but consider this: These 4 cylinders (whether it be the 4B11 or the 2.4 WORLD engine) are incredibly economical, reliable and emissions friendly. The EPA has nothing to hold against the engines, especially when there are tons more engines out there that are less efficient, less reliable and produce a lot more restricted emissions particles.
wait wait wait wait, let me get this straight you think they are going to pop a 2.4 in the RA? why would Mitsu spend so much time and research on the 2.0 4B11(b) variant.
Granted the power from a 2.4 would be great. But cost wise I think Mitsu is going to play it safe for the first 3 years of their newest creature.
If they start branching off in different directions it gets expensive from a corporate manufacturing view and to many things can go wrong if some core ideas start F#&#ing up.
Mitsu learned its lesson 20 years ago they are going to slow play this one.
They would be smart to create a 2.0 option and continue to develop the 2.4 platform
