Coil Pack Testing...
Can anyone tell me how to test if my coilpacks are okay? i mean a lancer/mirage specific coilpack not some general testing procedure? I have my coil packs off the car right now so any help at all would be great. Thanks a lot in advance!
forgot to add that i have a multimeter and extra spark plugs if need be. I know if i test with a multimeter that i will be needing the specifications the readings must fall between so that would be appreciated also.
alright well its not that hard at all, just a little tricky. they say to test it out at/around 68 deg f (outside temp/room temp) its cold outside so put it inside
6,500 ohms - 12,500 ohms
your testing the secondary coil. for some reason i dont think we have primaries. weird haha
stick one end in the bottom where the spark plug goes and the other(i believe) in the output to the spark plug wire.
i did mine and they showed 12,100 ohms and the other was at 12,400 ohms.
but i just pulled it in the shop. the coils were a little hott, haha
