Cool Exhaust future ??

ok, i have been debating over the RMR and RRM exhaust but my question is this:

I read on this board that RRM is going to create the rest of the exhaust (piping? cat back?) later on, which i dfenitely plan on buying. If i buy the RMR muffler, will this not work well with the RRM product? I would buy the RRM muffler now but i would rather have mitsu install the RMR intake and stuff all at the same time

any help would be nice

thanks

No way they should fit together. Just buy RRM and then when other piece comes buys it. Plus both RRM pieces will cost about what RMR muffler costs!!!!! Duh

go with neither, you can get your own magnaflow muffler for much less than both and have a muffler shop weld it on....when the piping comes out, buy it and have the muffler shop reweld that on....it will cheaper and i guarentee you that it wont void warranty.

agreed.

I made the mistake buying the RRM exaust. I took it to my friend who owns a muffler shop and he said he would have given me a better muffler, with better quality welds, overall better quality (no offense to RRM) and put a custom cat on for about 1/3 of the price. When i showed him my lancer he mentioned he knew a guy with a new red lancer pushing around 200 HP that raced up at pikes peak here in oregon. I could only assume RMR, but not for sure. I get a custom cat next week and ordered my RMR intake. Can't wait till' it gets here. Just find a reputable muffler shop and try and talk with them. A lot of them do cash jobs too, money talks.

I'd say that depends on what you want out of a muffler. If you want a fart can or loud muffler I'd say go with RMR or any other straight through muffler with custom piping. I personally don't like loud mufflers. The RRM muffler sounds nice and quiets down very nicely when you get moving while still letting you know its there, as for the welds I highly doubt there's a huge need for the most beautiful welds on the exhaust side of any car IMO if it doesn't leak then it was done just fine. Also I'd put this to you in choosing a muffler to make the desired sounds for your vehicle, just remember that there's a difference between a loud tail pipe on a weak engine and a strong engine on a quiet tail pipe, so I suggest you worry more about your engine than your muffler

lonemeeee is lacking intelligence in the field of exhaust.....the rmr and rrm are either exactly the same muffler, or are very close....both are magnaflow and both use the same straight through design.....stop trying to make rrm out to be so much better than rmr just because you own their products, it doesnt halp anyone in need of information.

I don't know about both of 'em being Magnaflow but I know that they are both not straight-through designs.

RMR

RRM

And of course as we all know, neither one of them is a true cat-back but rather just a bit of sectional piping attached.

Magnaflow

I went to a performance shop here in Tucson and they told me that of all the mufflers they carry Magnaflow was the last one they would use. They can do a full free-flow cat-back installed for $380...Just their opinion however...They also said go with the Injen intake... :headbng2: :headbng2: :headbng2: :headbng2: :headbng2:

Suggest going with a custom made catback. I got mine for 200. Upped piping to 2.25", and got a DC Sport straight through muffler. The Magnaflow offered by RRM and the RMR muffler, to my knowledge, both utilize an H-flow design, not much different from the stock mufflerS, like so:

Cat>-----|---------------->
)
<-----------------<
(
>--------------------|---->Tip

The DC Sport I aquired simply went:

Cat>-----|--------------------|-------->Tip

Thus removing alot of unnessary back pressure. Neither RMR or RRM offer this kind of system, though they should.

Guys,
Please do not infer too much about products, either RMR or Road/Race if you are not sure. You like your stuff. Promote it, but make sure you do not do it by bashing others. I doubt you have any of our stuff and I doubt you have driven cars with any of our stuff. Everybody is trying to justify their purchases. That is fine just be ethical in your promotion.

Muffler shop can do a good job,
They will reuse your original 1.75 flanges though. They may not use mandrel bent pipe. They may use muffler off the shelf. They may do it for a 1/3 of the price if they are your friend. They may give you a Stainless muffler or not. They may give you a stainlees dual wall tip. They may jam pipe into the can at a 45 degree angle like I've seen on a Lancer or not. Just be fair about these details. I know they make a difference to you. That is why we try to give you all that we can for the $. I have seen nice jobs and also some nasty jobs!

Our muffler is not the same as RMR. Our site has plenty of pics about what you get for the $. Don't quote what you are not absolutely sure about.

Thanks
ROAD/RACE

i won't complain, just try and advise

ORIGINAL MESSAGE I made the mistake buying the RRM exaust. I took it to my friend who owns a muffler shop and he said he would have given me a better muffler, with better quality welds, overall better quality (no offense to RRM) and put a custom cat on for about 1/3 of the price.

im not going to try and pawn off my new RRM muffler but I was informed by a guy who has been in the business for years, done thousands upon thousands of high quality jobs it was a little overpriced for what I got. he said He would have sold me the same setup with a nicer tip, and a custom cat for just under the price i paid for the muffler itself. I just felt like an *** when I brought my muffler down to him asking about doing a custom cat job. I put my muffler on and it sounds great, I just advise shopping around a little more.
