Got a prob

Guys I love my new LANCER OZ to death but something happened on the way home from work today that is making me mad and confused and I wanted your thoughts. My check engine light came on on the way home and I got the car mid feb. and another thing I only have 1390 miles on the car. What the hell could be wrong this early? I was a little sceptical about buying a mitsbishi but I do love it to death and I thought they would be reliable since they have been made all around the world. Well just want some input from you guys. Thanxs!

I posted this a long time ago, but I can't remember where and I'm too lazy to find the original post. My salesperson cautioned me to make sure that the car was not running while refilling the gas tank, and also to make sure the cap was sealed TIGHT until it clicked. Apparently we have very sensitive fuel systems and any extra air in the fuel line could cause the CE light to go on. If it does happen she said to just take it back to the dealership and have them fix it. (They probably just close the cap and reset the CPU, but I didn't ask for anymore details.) So there's another possibility for you. No matter what the reason, take it back to the dealership and have them check it out.

One thing you can get from the satanship is the factory manual. For something like a high idle RPM you need to know where the ISC unit is. A factory manual can show you that and tons of other stuff.
I'm sure the lancer is OBDII compliant so, there should be a way for you to hook up to the ecu and download the codes yourself.

Simple, reset it by diconnecting battery for a minute. If it comes back then take it in to dealer. May be nothing.

Totally OT, but hope you feel better. Surgery blows no matter what kind. Some way worse than others obviously. Hope the reset goes well.

OBDII

I'm not sure the Lancer is OBDII. I would be surprised since the new eclipse is somekind of OBD3 system. Does anyone know the answer? It seems like it would just be too much luck to be able to hook up an OBDII datalogger.

Sweet. I live right down the road. I am graduating next month. I had the Lancer out to new england dragway tonightIt was the first meeting of the year for my DSM club...didn't race it though. Kinda wanna break in the motor a little more than 200 miles first! I was actually trying to seat the rings on the way to the track!
Hope to see you around UNH. The only other DSM guy I knew at UNH graduated last year, so I have no one to talk cars with.

same thing happened to me with the check engine light, they said that they had probelems with the 5 speeds and that there is some kind of recall that keeps the engine light from coming on after high revs. just take it to the dealer. And by the way they don't call it a recall, but it is some kind of adjustment
