ok i have an 03 lancer es 5sp manual
Current mods include
injen cai
rrm piggyback
custom 2.5'' exhaust header back "Yes i know a tad too big"
rrm exh mani
Car is full race still streetable....removed ac unit under dash and pump on engine as well as pwr string pump. back doors welded shut and shaved handles all rear seats removed.
Car still completely stock on exterior except for rims and tints
sleeper in due time..
rrm piggy will be tossed out and replaced with ems..
my question is
once i get forged pistons and rods wouldnt my compression go down?
in relation wouldnt the stroke be shorter and thus meaning i will probably benefit from the mirage intake mani with shorter runners for more high end tq?
im planning on a t-25bb to get me to 20 psi

^Exactly, unless you plan on getting a custom crank your stroke will be the same. Compression depends on the pistons and on the head. You're going to want to use a different turbo if you plan on pushing 20 PSI, I would go for a T-28 or a 16g personally. Sounds like you're going very hardcore with the lancer, never heard of someone welding the doors shut.
Unless you select forged pistons with a different compression (height of the piston) than what you have it will not change. The compression will also change if you select different length connecting rods (not recommended). If you are going hardcore turbo, pull the motor, have it balanced and blueprinted with the upgraded components (piston, crank, rods, valves, etc.), have it ported (head, intake, exhaust), and go from there. It is a lots of work, but you will end up with a strong engine that can take a beating. (I didn't say fast.)
I say all of this with the understanding that you want to seriously race this car. Others will tell you that this car is not worth the money in modifications, and that may be true if you don't mind buying another car. If its what you have to work with, have fun with it and enjoy the experience.
Go with the underdog! Econoboxes make great sleepers, just don't expect too much.

First, let me say that your build sounds like you're off to a great start! But looks like you lack in the F/I dept... So let us help you!
No, forged rods and pistons don't automactically reduce the stroke. A lower compression piston will sit a tad lower in the bore (thus the lower compression ratio), but far as I know there are only a few piston options as well as rods options.
And as far as the T-25BB goes, why not something larger? Like a T-28 or 18G?
BTW, pics plz!

? I think you mean stroke not bore. If you plan on racing, I would strongly suggest a different (cheaper) car. The lancer isn't a good platform for hardcore serious racing since it's not cheap to mod or repair and there aren't a lot of options as far as setups go.
Thanks for the pointers!!
i have pics of the build but they are too big to post so i must resize them...i will keep you posted as i continue my project that will hopefully be done by spring ,y intentions are Clear
I am using the lancer as my platform....yes i know i could use a different platform and i would think about it for my next build....
My motivation for doing this is simple
1. A huge morale boost in the lancer community
2. Be different
yes i know i can use much better platforms but my idea is simple,,,,, everyone knows an evolution is fast especially when modded same goes for sti's and the list is endless. Lancers are slow we all know that thats why we love em i guess. I want to be the lancer that can stick with the big boys and maybe better, which brings me to the question
Yes i have done my research on the 4g63 engine swap and i know the pros the cons the limits..
The question still looms which powerplant i will use but i ask myself
drop 10,000 on a 4g94 and get about 300 hp in the end maybe more
or drop 10,000 on a 4g63 swap and once completed with all fabrication and drivetrain parts control arms everything done except the fact it will be fwd i will still be at the same amount of hp i would have by dropping 10k on the 94...And not to mention the fact the sky is the limit essentialy with that engine.
All in a bubble some might say buy an evo its cheaper and some might say im a fool, but everyone knows the evo is fast.
ok so here it is
I will build this up this winter i will update every so often and keep you guys posted. tuning and some fabrication will be done by skyy autoworks in brooklyn ny.
Ill be sure to take many pics and please anyone with advice please come through i will need all the help i can get. I have welders and experienced techs with me on this but god only knows what will come up as we all know how mitsus are.

I'm sorry but you will never be an evo. There, I said it. No matter what you will be limited by the platform. Sure you could be as fast as an evo, but handling won't be the same since the evo was designed from the factory to be driven fast (meaning it has better suspension setup, stiffer body, diffs to help it out, etc). If you want to be different, that's fine but don't make yourself out to be a martyr for lancer kind cause I don't think this community needs or wants one.
Good on ya! It sounds like you understand what you are getting into.
Don't mind the negativity (or is it realism?) of some, do what you like and share with us! Yes an EVO is fast and a sportier setup. But if he spends the time and does it right he will have a car that he likes.
As for the engine, there are many more options with the 4g63, but would it still really be a lancer? Personally, I would stick with what you have and build it up, and squeeze every thing out of the 4g94.
Short story; my Aunt came over from Australia and I picked her up (in my lancer) from the airport the other day. I said that it was just a go cart. She said, "It's a Lancer!" Which got me to thinking, whats the big deal? She told me that they are very popular (and expensive 24K) in AU, and that it is a respectable car. She also was jealous since my interior is nicer than what they get over there.
Anyway, so I like my little car a little more is all. Since I have been a hot rodder (read: do what you can with what you have) all my life, it will be applied to this car also.

i could be wrong
Well i made a call over to RRM and lets just say they set me straight. I was going the 63 route but i figure ill just keep original engine in there for the sake of it being a lancer and not an evo....and no i dont want an evo i can buy one but rather not for joy of building a custom car.....I will use the lancer platform point blank.
So as i set about my endeavor i will be keeping the 94 and try to squeeze every ounce of juice out of it. I never said i wanted to be an evo, i specifically remember saying I want to make it quicker than an evo............not an evo.....as i now delve deeper into this engine i will need some support from you guys with experience, No need to worry about fabrication of drivetrain or complications! just engine issues...my new plans are to fully build the motor ground up from arp studs to titanium valvesprings oversized valves etc etc list goes on....wish me luck and i will update regularly as i start to recieve parts for the "econobox"
This week i will be ordering the suspension fromm rrm im deciding either megan or tein ...i will leave the decision to you guys and tally the votes voting ends friday 12am...all for tein say tein all for megan say megan and any explanation why would gladly be appreciated.i shall take pics upon installation and i will unveil the car in spring when tracks open....
