power steering fluid

so i'm replacing my power steering pump and i went and picked up some valvoline maxlife power steering fluid w/ stop leak. I know there is lots of questions out there about what kind of PS fluid to buy, and i never found a clear cut answer, but if i remember right only honda vehicles use a different type of fluid. what do u guys think should i be cool?...i hate askin questions lol

I'd say going to the dealership, or call, and get what they'd suggest. I've nursed the resevior to about a half-bottle of my Mitsu P/S fluid within 87k miles.

A couple of people had leaky seals and squeeling using ps fluid other than mitsubishi fluid. I would use mitsubishi fluid to be safe or use a fluid that specifically states its compatible with mitsubishi. I did alot of research on ps fluid and would up going to the dealership and buying mitsu fluid. I forgot wether it was redline or amsoil that had fluid which specifically stated it was ok for mitsubishi. Our PS units dont use the clear ps fluid but rather the red one that looks like tranmission fluid.
