I was wondering if the metal guard with the hand wass their to protect the header from getting broke or just to tell you not to touch. Ive read about some car's having plastic headers and i was wondering if mine was plastic and if that is why the guard is their or is it safe to just take that ugly thing off?

 

you can take it off if you want... not sure why you'd want to waste your time doing it though unless you were taking it off to put on a new header.

 

bored and might paint it, and it looks stupid. idk it might look even more retarded without it but idk.

 

It's a heat shield, it's designed to keep the heat from the exhaust from filling the engine bay. I have never heard of any exhaust manifold being made of plastic since plastic melts at that kind of temperature.
