CAI or SRI?

Im new to the tuner world, and i know the basic function of an intake, but am a little confused on the purpose of the two different types. Im going to trick this car out if it kills me, but i need a little help.

A little back ground on my self, I sold auto parts for a few years, and know all basic functions of most engine parts. I have done most of my maintenence myself, and have even changed an engine and tranny in an old S-10. But these newer cars are alittle different than what im used to.
I also have done many, many stereo, security installs. So i can help others with that knowledge.

So, with that said, can you guys tell me what you have on your car as far as intake, and maybe some pros/cons? Prices would be great too. I have been eyeing RRM's site but would like some straight forward opinions.

I JUST NOTICED THIS WAS IN THE WRONG FORUM. I WILL MOVE IT. Excuse me, im new.

Stock - free
Pros - warranty, car is tuned perfectly
Cons - you feel intake envy

Drop-in filter - Works - $130
Pros - Small power gain, power gain is across the whole RPM range, never needs replacement - just cleaning
Cons - not as much of a gain as the SRI or CAI

SRI - RRM, Fujita, eBay - should be under $200
Pros - In my experience, topend power gain
Cons - Filter right near engine = hot air being sucked in

CAI - Injen, Works (in production) - more of the $300 range
Pros - Topend power
Cons - Possible loss of lowend torque

--------------

Personal advice - it's hard for me to tell you what to get. I don't know what you like.

I've run stock setup most of my car's life. Obviously no complaints there.
I have the RRM SRI. I'm happy with the power it adds, but it definitely isn't like I was expecting. SRIs traditionally make lowend power, but on the 4B11, it makes topend power. I have a CVT, so I spend most of my driving in low-RPM levels.

I recently ordered the Works Drop-in filter to test out how I like that. Once it arrives, I'll try and report back.

My honest advice to you is to get whatever you like. No matter what, the Lancer is never going to be quick. Get something you're happy with and go with it.

Usually. When I had the RRM SRI on my 2008, it gave no lowend power. All the added power was topend. I'm not sure how the science behind that works...
