Tanabe Exhaust
Tanabe Exhaust
I was messing around on you tube and found out about Tanabe exhausts, which sound like what I would be aiming for (low profile performance exhaust). I did not see this post anywhere on this forum so I decided to make this my first post.

Here is the direct link to the page I found the picture on. http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/e...tions.asp?id=7
Their prices of other axelbacks are outrageous. I may be mistaken but i wouldnt pay 5 or 600 for an axelback. There is no price yet on the 2008 lancer. It says TBA under the price section.

lol well this is my second time posting here, not sure what happend to the original one. But I agree with you crypto, I know why they would be redesigning it. They were trying to redesign it for more performance, direct translation, probably meant they are trying to achieve a more HP. Problem is to chase more HP you may have to give up TQ unless you can optimize the flow and backpressure which is a crapshoot sometimes and takes countless hours of testing, maybe a hundred to find the perfect balance. I am glad to see they are taking the time to due further R&D
But The design should seem familure?
my work on this configuration style both single pipe and dual pipe, I would assume they are modifying the canister size to reduce the height profile and at the same time maintain the tone and boost HP.
We will see in time I guess how it turns out.

I had a tanabe titanium catback on my suby and not only was it well made with a great sound, it was also 200 dollars cheaper than other competitors like HKS and Greddy. I can't wait to see what this one looks like, and as far as I'm concerned I know it will be quality. Question for me is if I like the sound.
The exhaust on my car retailed for 800-900$ and it's just an axleback, quality products cost money. If you design the system properly, you don't have to sacrifice torque to gain hp (since hp is a product of torque). Realistically, you're not going to gain 10 hp with an exhaust.
