If it were me I would just change it regardless if it needs to be or not.

1. Not going to hurt anything
2. Not expensive
3. Better safe then sorry

the car will tell you at 7500 instead of 3000 because of the new oil standards. i heard before from a different dealer that they put chemicals on the motor (brand new car) to help clean it out so they suggest to let it sit there until 7500. but i dont know if our car had the same stuff on it and everyone just wants to baby there new car so they stick to the basics 3000 miles. i change every 3000 b/c just like bigd said not expensive, its easy to do, and better safe then sorry.

Just go on ahead already.
That was shipped from Japan and sat on the dealership for sometime.
There is bound to be some small metal chips or other cruds that were left behind during the manufacturing process.

I changed mine within the week i bought it.
Thats just personal preference though.

nothing definitve.

Change the oil now. Ignore that stupid meter on the dash and change your oil every 3k like a normal person. Or switch to synthetic oil and do it every 3-5k.

I first changed mine at 2600 miles. Used synthetic oil and I've changed it every 4k since.

this is a little off topic, but are there any real benefits from using synthetic over regular, or vice versa?

Synthetic is good for longer. If you run regular, you want to change every 3k or so. Synthetic you can let slip. I've talked to people that changed their synthetic every 10k with no problems.

Otherwise, they both lubricate. Some folks claim high-end synthetics will allow for more HP (Royal Purple comes to mind, with a supposed 2hp gain on a Corvette), but that's pretty much a myth until some hard evidence is found (I never trust the results of one test).

Some synthetic makers CLAIM that their oil stands up better to heat.
But then, I also see commercials saying a pill will make the male genitalia larger. And Kevin Trudeau and Matthew Lesko are constantly on TV selling books full of lies. (Getting my point?)

If you change your oil every 3k, you're honestly fine buying the Walmart oil that's $5/gallon. If you just want he piece-of-mind that comes with saying "my car should be safe because I put in the best oil," then go synthetic. Personally, I go synthetic. I just feel better that way. Also, I tend to miss those 3k changes, so the synthetic lets me push it to 4k or 5k more safely...

Am I a crazy person, because everyone talks about getting their oil changed every 3-5k miles, and I get mine done every 3 months? My first oil change was at 2800 miles, and ever since then, I've just done it every 3 months. And I also use synthetic

Use oil change intervals that match your driving. I currently change mine every 7,500 miles (full synthetic.) I've started sending oil samples to this company, every other oil change, to get an idea of what kind of wear is going on in my engine, as well as how much life is left in my oil. Results that've come back to me have told me I could go at least 10k per change without any issues or potential risks.

On a new car, every 3,000 miles is definitely overkill, even with conventional oil, but the only thing it's going to hurt is your wallet.

OKay so i did my first oilchange at 4200miles.
called the dealership in the states (where i bought the car) and they recomended first oil change at 7500 miles. they said that my car originally comes with some sort of synthetic break in oil...
then i called a local dealership in canada.. they said oil change at 6000km.. asked what oil the car comes with and they said just regular oil....
maybe diff countries have diff oil regulations?
