Otherwise, they both lubricate. Some folks claim high-end synthetics will allow for more HP (Royal Purple comes to mind, with a supposed 2hp gain on a Corvette), but that's pretty much a myth until some hard evidence is found (I never trust the results of one test).
On Horsepower TV they took a late 90's model Mustang and changed every fluid to Royal Purple. I can't remember exactly, but they got around a 12hp gain.

Anyways, I changed my oil after the break in (~500 miles) and again at 4,500. There is no way I was going to let it go to 7,500 from off the lot. I'll probably stick to every 4,500 from now on.

Just to add data to the list . . .

I changed mine for the first time at 3,000 miles. I changed it again at 7,500 miles, and now I will just stick with what the computer tells me: every 7,500 miles.

I am using Mobil 1 5W-20 purchased in 5 qt. jugs at Wal-Mart for about $20.

Between my wife and I we have five vehicles, and I do oil changes and other maintenance myself. I can do an oil change, filter change, tire rotation, underbody inspection myself for about $25 and 90 minutes of my time. I staple my receipts and mark the dates in my maintenance log.

Yeah, i think i would just change mine at 3,000 miles, just to make sure the oil being thrown around your engine is rich.

All you really need is some ramps to load your car up and the reciept from the store where you bought your oil to keep make sure your warranty is still held, that is me though i like doing my own work, for the ones who rather have theirs professionally done you just need the receipt from wherever you got it done.

Some people like my dad think that you HAVE to go to the dealer for an oil change for your warranty to still stand.

hey guys, have you messed with the meter yet, my dealer said that there is a way to change the numbers when the inspection is coming up ( like when you press the info button) he said you can have it changed to come up every 3000 miles so you know its time for a oil change. I havent done it yet so i dont know if it will work, i asked him to do it, he told me to look in my manual...NO HELP WHATS SO EVER from mitsu...

Yes, it's pretty easy.

Yes, you have to look in the manual. It's hard to remember. If you are able to memorize that stupid procedure, you deserve a cookie AND a gold star.

Because Americans proved too dumb to be able to use the Metric system. (no, that's not a joke. They tried it in the 70's, IIRC)
