engine swap

The 2004 lancer will have either the 4g94 or the mivec if it is the ralliart model. does this mean the mivec would be able to be swapped into 2002-2003 models? Is it worth it to sawp in the mivec? would it be better to tune the 4g94 we currently have?

any thoughts would be appreciated

Been covered. We'll have to wait and see how the spacing is with the bigger 2.4 MIVEC. As far as performance, I'd personally go for the MIVEC because it's got more displacement obviously, the only downside being that it's still a single cam and not the dual we were all hoping for.

Still no luck if its only a single cam. Do the bottom end of the 2 liter and boost it to about 9psi, I'm sure you'd be happy with that.

Trust me, you'd be happy at 6psi. At 9 it's perma-grin.

The MIVEC type is from a 4g64, not even in the same family as the 4g9x block . . . if you're thinking of a cyl head swap.

All the 3g eclipse RS/GS should rejoice! They can do the hybrid.

See how the outlander sharing w/ the lancer's chassis do . . . it opens the possibility of a g64 in a lancer engine bay. Unfortunately, the motor does have immobilizer.

Also, the E7-8 can also do the cyl head swap . . . massive amount of tuning. MIVEC-type + TC = unfriendly tuning.

As for as "would it be worth it" goes...if you are trying to get the most power out of a Lancer, an engine swap would be an effective upgrade. To some people money isn't a huge factor. Remember, there's no replacement for displacement .

No room for an AWD drivetrain.......honestly if you some how manage to get another engine in there whether it be from an AWD or FWD car, just be happy with the engine. Besides and AWD upgrade IF possible will probably run you $5000+, just buy and Evo.

Well, do you need to get the engine wit an AWD?.. Well, what does the Evo5 have?.. Why not just put an Evo5/6 engine.. Its also the same except no AWD right?... And it should be less complicated. Because durin this time, when this was made, there were less stuff needed.. The Evo just evolves to be better every model.. So just get the less complicated engine..

the 1st and 2nd gen eclipses used 63's. you can find those in junk yards across the nation easily now. grab yourself a front clip and happy swapping

as far as i know, all evo's are AWD cars. when looking at the swap, it's more or less the tranny you need to concern yourself with. to do a proper swap, i would find a 63 out of an old evo (for fitment issues) and then grab a FWD tranny from an old eclipse. if the bolt patterns don't match, just create your own from our favorite friends at porter cable

A bit OT, but we really need to find the best swap thread and sticky it...
